The Income Tax Compliance Senior Manager (“Sr. Manager”) requires expertise in accounting and taxation to deliver complex federal, state & international income tax compliance and consulting services for assigned clients in a variety if industries and states, including original and amended filings. This includes technical experience with large consolidated federal 1120 C-Corp's, S-Corp's, Partnership's, Trust's and individual returns. The Sr. Manager maintains client relationships and oversees the timely preparation of all client assigned income tax filings in accordance with current tax regulations.
Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan’s Key Results
People:
- Create a positive team member experience.
- Develops and motivates engagement staff and provides leadership, counseling, and career guidance.
- Assist in managing administrative activities for the department and firm.
- Manage projects through the office with excellent engagement management metrics.
- Lead weekly team meetings and assist in workload allocation.
Client:
- Responds to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities.
- Maintain high level of client service and communication.
- Conduct annual kick-off and quarterly status update calls with clients.
- Identifies any weaknesses observed in client’s processes and procedures and makes recommendations to the clients on how to improve their internal processes, procedures, workflow, and documentation.
- Collaborates on tax research projects for clients in diverse industries, participates in engagements requiring tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates, researches and analyzes a wide range of tax issues and applies the appropriate tax treatment.
Value:
- Manages projects for income tax engagements, which includes project planning, project oversight, scheduling staff resources, and developing and implementing software solutions.
- Oversees workpaper documentation protocol, data collection and organization, utilization of software, management of the process, and final review of results.
- Writes technical documents on tax issue developments.
- Assists in drafting proposals, engagement letters, client billings and reports of findings.
- Help develop, build and manage client relationships as well as process improvements.
Education and Experience:
- Experience with corporate taxation, consolidations, partnerships, trusts, individual returns and all international tax forms.
- Proven experience effectively prioritizing workload to meet deadlines and objectives.
- Proven ability to direct and develop staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with managing multiple client engagements and client service teams preferred.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Tax, CPA, or JD preferred.
- Minimum 8-10 years of tax professional services experience.
Computer Skills:
- Intermediate knowledge of GOSYSTEMS Tax RS software, ONESOURCE software, and/or Corptax software is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft® Excel, Microsoft® Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid driver’s license required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position includes supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
- Standard indoor working environment.
- Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.
- Position requires regular interaction with employees at all levels of the Firm and interface with external clients, vendors, and candidates at all levels.
Compensation:
- For certain California based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $136,800.00 - $185,900.00
- For other California based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $125,500.00 - $170,500.00
- For Colorado based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $120,000.00 - $162,800.00
- For Illinois based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $125,500.00 - $170,500.00
- For other Illinois based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $120,000.00 - $162,800.00
- For New York based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $136,800.00 - $185,900.00
- For other New York based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $114,000.00 - $155,100.00
- For Washington based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $125,500.00 - $170,500.00
- The Company makes offers based on many factors, including qualifications and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation.
