About Empowerly

Empowerly is an education technology company on a mission to democratize college admissions through personalized guidance, expert coaching, and data-backed technology. We help students from all backgrounds reach their academic and professional potential by combining expert counseling with innovative software.

Backed by $30M in funding, including a $15M round in early 2024 led by Conductive Ventures, we’re scaling our services, launching new products (including our first mobile app), and growing our remote-first team.

If you’re passionate about building meaningful experiences that connect people to purpose—and you thrive at the intersection of creativity, operations, and measurable impact—we’d love to meet you.

About the Role

We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on Senior Manager of Events Marketing to own Empowerly’s event marketing function across in-person, virtual, and hybrid experiences. Your role will be to build memorable events that not only elevate our brand, but also generate qualified leads, accelerate deals, and empower our BDR and AE teams.

You’ll work closely with marketing leadership, sales, and our Senior Marketing Analyst to ensure every event is integrated into our funnel, captured in HubSpot, and optimized for revenue impact. You'll also be empowered to explore how AI and automation tools can enhance how we plan, execute, and follow up on events.

This role is perfect for someone who understands that events aren’t just about logistics—they’re about driving pipeline, inspiring action, and building a scalable GTM motion.

Event Strategy & Planning

  • Own and execute a company-wide event strategy aligned to marketing and sales objectives
  • Design a mix of brand and revenue-driving activations—from school-based events and regional field campaigns to national conferences and virtual webinars
  • Develop event plans that map to buyer personas and lead lifecycle stages

Pipeline Generation and Sales Enablement

  • Create field marketing programs that directly support the BDR and AE teams
  • Partner with sales to pre-load events with target leads, then follow up with campaign-driven outreach
  • Track and optimize lead capture and routing in HubSpot and Salesforce
  • Serve as a bridge between marketing events and sales pipeline acceleration

Execution & Optimization

  • Manage end-to-end event execution: budget, vendors, timelines, logistics, and on-site operations
  • Drive digital experiences using webinar and virtual event platforms
  • Ensure every event has clear KPIs, follow-up workflows, and post-event insights

Artificial Intelligence (AI) MARKETING TECH & AUTOMATION

  • Explore and recommend AI tools that improve event planning, lead scoring, personalization, and post-event engagement
  • Work closely with our Senior Marketing Analyst to implement automations via HubSpot or other marketing tech
  • Stay current on AI trends in marketing and event execution

Partnership & Community Engagement

  • Build relationships with school administrators, PTAs, conference organizers, and education communities
  • Lead co-marketing events and sponsorship opportunities that grow brand awareness

What Winning Together Looks Like

  • Events that drive measurable leads and create meaningful engagement
  • A repeatable playbook for sales-aligned, data-driven field marketing
  • Automation and workflows that reduce manual effort and increase ROI
  • BDRs and AEs excited to participate in events because they trust the outcomes
  • Strong internal collaboration and trust across marketing, sales, and operations

Requirements

  • BS in Marketing, Integrated Marketing, Communications, Product Marketing, etc ; MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in event marketing with a strong record of delivering impact across in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats
  • Deep understanding of lead generation, campaign development, and event funnel metrics
  • Fluency in CRM and marketing tools (HubSpot preferred) for event setup, lead capture, and reporting
  • Experience building scalable programs with limited resources
  • Ability to work cross-functionally within Marketing, BDRs, AEs, and analysts to drive pipeline outcomes
  • Excellent project management, vendor negotiation, and communication skills
  • Strong analytical instincts — you know how to measure success, tell a data story, and iterate
  • Familiarity with AI tools, marketing automation, or prompt-based platforms is a plus
  • Experience in education, edtech, or mission-driven sectors is a bonus

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
