About the team
Corporate Accounting is all about running a fast, accurate, and efficient close process while keeping things compliant, scalable, and always improving. We're building the finance foundations to support Canva's growth and long-term success.
We focus on simplifying processes, leveraging automation, and using technology and AI to make accounting smarter and more efficient. As Canva grows, so does our financial complexity, and our team plays a key role in keeping our financials accurate, timely, and reliable.
Beyond the numbers, we partner with teams across Canva to simplify financial processes and provide insights that drive better decision-making.
About the role
We are looking for a Corporate Accounting Lead to help scale and improve our accounting operations.
You'll lead a team, own key financial processes, and drive automation and efficiency. You'll help ensure accurate reporting, strong controls, and scalable processes that support Canva's growth.

What you'll do

  • Own the accounting close, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in line with GAAP and global accounting standards.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Strengthen internal controls and SOX compliance, ensuring financial accuracy and integrity.
  • Introduce automation, AI, and new technology to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
  • Drive process improvements to make financial operations faster, smoother, and more scalable
  • Partner with teams across Canva to simplify financial processes, provide insights that drive better decision-making and elevate financial understanding across the company.
  • Support audits and regulatory requirements, working closely with external auditors and internal teams.


Qualifications
What we're looking for
We're after a strategic, hands-on accounting leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and loves building scalable financial processes. You're a problem solver who embraces change, enjoys working cross-functionally, and is passionate about mentoring and developing teams.

  • Proven experience in corporate accounting, financial reporting, and operational finance-ideally in a high-growth or public company.
  • CPA certification.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and developing teams.
  • Deep expertise in GAAP, SOX compliance, and internal controls.
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and scale accounting operations.
  • Excellent communication skills-you can simplify complex financial concepts for non-financial teams.
  • A passion for automation, technology, and improving workflows.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (bonus points for NetSuite!).

At Canva we value fairness, and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation whilst ensuring internal equity within the team in each region. We make hiring decisions based on your skills, experience and our overall assessment of what we observed and learnt in the hiring process. The target salary range for this position is $169,000 - $221,000. When calculating offers, we make salary decisions based on market data and candidates' skills and experience.
