The Role

Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:

ARC’TERYX is growing -- in guest experience excellence, in variety and sophistication of business models, and in operational volume and critical workflows. The Technology group and the architecture practice are a key part of supporting and accelerating ARC’TERYX growth!

We believe that Enterprise Architecture, at its best, is the pinnacle of IT engineering practice; led by seasoned IT engineers that bring their experience and judgement to the craft of delivering functional designs and system strategies and have chosen the architecture path. Creating understandability in a complex landscape and collaborating with all team members -- from business leaders to developers -- is core to our practice.

This role can be hired remote. Remote candidates must be committed to Pacific time zone hours aligned with the ARC’TERYX headquarters location in North Vancouver, B.C.

Meet Your Future Team:

The architecture team is an enabling group in our Technology department supporting our business application, service platform, and PMO teams. We research and produce design options for business projects and major initiatives, own and maintain explanatory views of extant systems, and guide tool and strategic vendor strategies. Working directly with product management and IT engineering teams, we insure architectural design transitions successfully to implementation and production.

We are also the sponsor and steward of the engineering guild that provides community, best practice, emerging trends, education opportunities, and role and career path guidance to our larger family of IT engineers.

If you were in the Senior Enterprise Architect role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

  • Creating scoped design options for product leaders in the PMO intake process with trade offs, required policies, risk advisement, and over-arching strategy alignment
  • Informing the technology implementation and domain functions of the Omnichannel platform and aligning related application designs, roadmap, and tool choices
  • Teaming with business leaders and SMEs to chart new capabilities and relate them to business priorities and strategic objectives, with focus in areas such as end-to-end planning, ERP, finance, HR, and other cross-cutting systems
  • Advancing and enabling technology that supports the ARC’TERYX guest experience including front-end richness in UX, seamless purchase journeys, and brand connection
  • Understanding need and recommending channel and integration solutions in expanding recommerce offerings and sales regions

Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:

  • Defining and driving cross-cutting initiatives such as carbon-emission and energy reductions in IT deployment and contributing to circularity goals in our overall supply chain and product lifecycle
  • Developing architecture group common practices and artifact styles
  • Defining and leading engineering guild activities and championing overall engineering practice excellence
  • Advising and shaping developer services in support of agile-lifecycle software development and service deployment

Are you our next Senior Enterprise Architect?

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • You may also have advanced degrees or certifications in technology leadership, cloud computing, or system architecture (highly desirable)
  • You have 12+ years in IT engineering roles of increasing responsibility and sophistication including prior experience as an IT architect
  • You have experience designing and implementing IT foundational capabilities in areas such as application integration, identity and access management, data schema, service interface design, and shared platform design and operation
  • You have design and operation experience in application domains such as supply-chain, eCommerce, loyalty/marketing, manufacturing and warehousing, and product lifecycle management
  • You have experience discovering, planning and solving cross-application and business domain requirements and end-to-end flows
  • You have experience with solution option synthesis and authoring with option trade-offs, required policies, solution risks, and best-fit recommendation
  • You have experience with Assessment of as-is systems and domain flows as springboard to informing and leading project design and domain strategy
  • You have skills and desire to guide and inspire IT engineering best practices and mentor skills, techniques, and career path
  • You have strong communication skills, capable of inspiring teams and stakeholders with a clear vision and innovative thinking
  • You may have direct retail business experience
  • Your passion for your work is paralleled by your passion for getting outside and living it
