About the Role

As the Manager of Cloud Infrastructure, you will be responsible for delivery of a key part of the Platform and Infrastructure roadmap. Our mission in Platform & Infrastructure (PI) is to enable the rest of engineering by providing an easy-to-use and self-service cloud platform upon which all Abnormal applications are built.

What you will do 

  • Own the execution success of the quarterly roadmap for Cloud Infrastructure teams including infrastructure as code, compute and cloud foundations at Abnormal; engage continuously with the Tech Leads to help adjust and prioritize current roadmap items according to the team’s charter and company priorities.
  • Deliver On:
    • 30+ new Abnormal cloud environments to enable market expansion, scaling and ease of testing.
    • Evolve the Abnormal to a cell based AWS cloud architecture to support rapid business growth. 
    • A cloud platform that effectively abstract AWS cloud infrastructure (terraform/terragrunt) & compute (kubernetes) from the rest of the organization
  • Drive processes to enable the team to deliver on projects that are set by TLs as part of the technical roadmap.
    • Manage the quarterly roadmap updates, project time estimates, weekly sprint planning, day-to-day standups
    • Identify risks on project delivery (technical, operational, dependency risks) and escalate to appropriate technical leads
    • Able to assess progress in a metrics-oriented manner
    • Provide continuous feedback
  • Hire and mentor and grow engineers on the team. Provide consistent coaching at regular intervals to help them successfully execute high impact projects.

Must Haves 

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a hands-on engineer building backend systems and/or platforms or working as a cloud engineer. 
  • 2+ years of managing cloud infra, backend or platform teams.
  • Customer obsessed: Working with our internal engineers to determine the Infrastructure roadmap.
  • Recruiting magnet - you are able to set up a hiring plan, attract senior engineers, outline the vision of the team and build out a large team.
  • High standards - sets high standards and expectations for project execution for themselves and the whole team.

Base salary range:

$187,900$221,000 USD
