What You'll Do

We're seeking a Senior Director, Product Design to lead and elevate our talented design team at Spotter Studio. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of creative ideation, developing novel UX patterns that make sophisticated AI capabilities intuitive and empowering for creators. As our Senior Director, Product Design, you'll lead a team of skilled designers in a player-coach role, working directly with our EVP, Product to define and execute our product strategy. You'll be at the forefront of solving fascinating design challenges in the emerging space of AI-powered creative tools.

  • Lead and mentor a team of talented designers, fostering their growth while maintaining exceptional design quality
  • Partner with our EVP, Product to shape the strategic direction of Spotter Studio
  • Champion user-centered design practices across the organization
  • Establish and refine design processes that enhance team productivity and output quality
  • Drive the evolution of our design system to ensure consistency and efficiency
  • Stay ahead of emerging trends in AI, design tools, and creator needs
  • Foster a culture of design excellence and innovation
  • Actively participate in solving complex UX challenges when needed

Player-Coach Expectations:

We're looking for someone who:

  • Actively contributes to design work (approximately 50% of time)
  • Leads by example through direct involvement in complex design challenges
  • Regularly participates in design critiques with hands-on feedback
  • Can roll up sleeves and contribute to design execution when needed
  • Maintains craft while elevating the team's capabilities

Location Expectations:

  • Hybrid role based in Los Angeles (3 days per week in office)
  • For exceptional candidates outside the LA region, we offer a flexible remote arrangement with monthly in-person collaboration (1-2 times per month)

Who You Are

  • 8+ years of product design experience, with demonstrated progression in scope and impact
  • 4+ years of experience leading and managing design teams
  • Proven track record working on complex SaaS products at scale
  • History of establishing and scaling design practices across organizations
  • Proven track record of leading design teams (4+ designers) and shipping successful products
  • Deep understanding of UX principles and research methodologies
  • Strong product thinking and ability to balance user needs with business goals
  • Expert-level proficiency with Figma and modern design tools
  • Experience with SaaS products (B2B or B2C at scale)
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Active engagement with and curiosity about the AI/ML landscape
  • Experience establishing and scaling design processes

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles that will be performed in Culver City. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current pay range is: $200K-$250K salary per year. The range listed is just one component of Spotter’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual discretionary bonus and equity.
