We are continuing to build and develop our Lilly USA employer engagement capability as this customer will be increasingly critical for our obesity portfolio. Lilly ongoing research, including our efforts in obesity, presents one of the most exciting opportunities in the history of the company. There is currently a significant, growing, and intense unmet need across all key players.
Lilly has a team to engage with large employers, employer healthcare consultants and coalitions to support the commercialization of Lilly’s obesity portfolio. In this role, you will be joining Lilly at an exciting time as we expand our commercial presence, launch new assets, as well as develop strategic relationships with large self-funded employers. This role is intended to help benefits leaders and key opinion leaders with the information they need to articulate Lilly’s value proposition and support their internal teams.
This position reports within Lilly Value and Access (LVA), a mission-driven organization supporting Lilly’s purpose of uniting caring with discovery to make medicines that make life better for people around the world. The position of Senior Director of Consultant Relations plays a role in achieving LVA’s mission of improving health outcomes by establishing, communicating, and realizing the value of Lilly therapeutics to benefits consultants.
Employee-benefit managers do not make decisions in a silo. There are several stakeholders they depend on for information and guidance to establish their offerings. Benefits consultants are a key partner, and work as a trusted advisor to many employers' benefits managers. Lilly is seeking a Consultant Relations liaison to help support the commercialization of Lilly’s product portfolio, including potential obesity and/or metabolic products or indications.
As Senior Director of Consultant Relations, you are responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationship with benefits consultants and related stakeholders. You will develop expert knowledge of Lilly’s portfolio and use this along with your knowledge of employer benefit design to engage with key stakeholders. Additionally, this role will understand employer’s challenges, needs, and opportunities and the role and influence of the consultants. By aligning expectations across customer segments, this individual will help convey how Lilly’s brands meet the healthcare needs of self-insured employers.
To be successful, you must thrive in a fast-paced, team environment and excel at developing high-level customer relationships with Benefits Directors and VPs. Account assignments are subject to change over time, as business dynamics dictate and/or business priorities change. The key objectives are to improve employee access to medication, minimize employee out of pocket costs, and improve employee health outcomes that result in a positive business impact.
This position does not have direct reports.
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate deep understanding of broad healthcare and competitive business trends, regulatory and legal requirements, and their impact on customers. Know employers and benefits consultants, and what they value.
- Articulate the clinical story of Lilly medications. Serve as the clinical expert to consultants, employers and other key benefit decision makers.
- Develop and maintain relationships with accounts to attain near-term and ensure long-term success.
- Represent Lilly at trade, coalition, key employer and customer meetings.
- Develop strategic account plans that will enhance customer relationships. Know how to access all resources available to develop knowledge and drive business results.
- Proactively engage and network with key account decision influencers to identify and address specific needs and aligned opportunities.
- Conduct regular account business reviews and opportunity analysis and derive meaningful and actionable insights for both internal partners and account decision makers
- Demonstrate knowledge of Lilly’s and LVA’s vision, mission, business strategies/goals, products, processes and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate and partner with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of overall brand strategy, bringing to bear your ability to obtain real time customer insights & market trends and to meet mutual business goals & objectives
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with or within the healthcare ecosystem related to employer benefits.

Additional Preferences:
- Demonstrated understanding of employer benefits, the decision-making process, and relationships with employers and coalitions
- Demonstrated prior experience with establishing and consistently meeting or exceeding business development targets
- Excellent communication, presentation, collaboration and influencing skills across internal and external partners
- Demonstrated sales and strategic planning skills
- Experience working with benefits consultants and benefits decision makers
- Demonstrated track record of building and driving volume and profitable revenue growth with large employer accounts
- Strong portfolio of commercial skills obtained through experience and application with track record of delivery within commercial teams.
- Comfort level with ambiguity and a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment that is being defined in real-time, will be key. You should be driven and willing to think creatively and pursue new or novel approaches to business and market development. The fast-moving market will require a high degree of adaptability and trust building with key accounts

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$162,000 - $237,600
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
