Job Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain database systems to support our applications and operations
  • Optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, and query optimization
  • Ensure database security by implementing and maintaining access controls, encryption, and other security measures
  • Develop and maintain database backup and recovery procedures
  • Collaborate with the software development team to design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements
  • Provide database support and guidance to the software development team during the development lifecycle
  • Provides comprehensive database engineering services on projects and initiatives
  • Develops database architecture to address business requirements, ensuring system scalability, security, performance and reliability
  • Generally, has comprehensive knowledge and expertise of database technologies, along with solid programming, design and system analysis skills
  • Performs specialized assignments; solves complex problems and develops non-traditional solutions through sophisticated analytical thinking
  • Interprets internal/external business environment
  • Recommends best practices to improve processes or services
  • Impacts achievements of customer, operational, project or service objectives
  • Communicates difficult concepts to team to generate clarity and alignment on projects, initiatives, and various work products
  • May lead functional projects with moderate risks and resource requirements
  • Individual contributor working independently; may require guidance in highly complex situations
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

Experience

  • Typically requires 5+ years of related work experience
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with database management systems like Microsoft SQL Server
  • Strong understanding of database architecture, design, and performance optimization
  • Experience with database security best practices and tools
  • Experience with cloud-based database solutions like Azure SQL Database
  • Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or PowerShell
  • Experience with database automation and DevOps practices
