Summary: 

As a Senior Data Modeler at MasterControl, you’ll be working on designing, implementing, and maintaining complex data models to support our organization's data  platform which powers all of our data first products. You will have impact to shape the entire data platform as part of the ADAPT AWS based platform and impact our analytics and applications data strategy. Our mission of making life changing products available to more people, sooner, requires innovative thinking, an ability to think at scale and delivery in a fast paced environment. Data is at the center of MasterControls mission and the ideal candidate will have a strong background in data modeling, database design, and data architecture, with experience working in both relational and NoSQL database environments.  

Key  Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support various business requirements 
  • Collaborate with the larger data engineering organization, platform, product owners, and stakeholder teams to gather and analyze system requirements to deliver scalable and efficient data designs 
  • Implement best practices for data modeling, including normalization, denormalization, and indexing 
  • Perform data profiling and analysis to identify data quality issues and recommend solutions 
  • Optimize database performance through schema design and indexing strategies 
  • Document data models, data dictionaries, and data lineage for both technical and non-technical audiences 
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in data modeling, database design, and data management 

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or another equivalent discipline / experience  
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience as a data modeler or database designer in a similar role dealing with complex enterprise scale schemas  
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts and SQL using Postgres or similar databases.  
  • 3+ years Experience with data warehousing concepts and technologies building complex star schemas 
  • Familiarity with Data Governance principles and best practices 
  • Familiarity with data modeling standards such as UML, ERDs 
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills 

Nice to have: 

Exposure to no-SQL databases and vector databases and addressing non-relational schemas and API contracts 
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $150,000 - $190,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
