OfferUp is seeking an experienced business attorney to serve as Senior Corporate Counsel, Legal to support OfferUp’s fast-growing marketplace business. This role will report to the General Counsel and work collaboratively with the rest of the Legal Department. The OfferUp Legal Department is a client-focused group with a strong emphasis on providing exceptional legal advice and advancing the Company's business goals. Responsibilities:
- Support OfferUp’s product teams by advising on legal and risk issues related to OfferUp services.
- Provide strategic advice on a variety of consumer and business facing digital advertising products to ensure compliance with regulations and consumer protection laws.
- Review products, features, and initiatives to provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies for products across multiple jurisdictions, with an emphasis on legal issues related to the mobile app ecosystem.
- Negotiate and draft general business and commercial agreements such as licensing agreements, SaaS agreements, vendor agreements, and other technology services agreements.
- Resolve issues that arise in OfferUp’s ongoing commercial relationships.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of document templates, alternate language playbooks, and internal resource documents.
- Deliver training and guidance to employees on legal issues, best practices, and company policies.
- Provide advice and counsel on employment law issues including policies, hiring, discipline, terminations, and pay/benefits.
- Provide day-to-day legal advice and assist with other legal matters as the need arises.
- Lead outside counsel relationships as appropriate.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of relevant experience is required.
- JD is from an accredited law school and is an active member of the WA bar.
- Comfortable with a hybrid office schedule. Required to be in the office a minimum of two days per week.
- Must be enthusiastic and hard-working.
- Team player who enjoys working with, supporting and building relationships with other attorneys and internal clients.
- Ability to operate successfully in a fast-paced environment that places a high premium on excellence, execution, and teamwork.
- Strong understanding of mobile apps, digital advertising and similar technologies.
- Experience in either privacy compliance or human resources is not required, but would be beneficial.
- Demonstrated history of assessing and managing risk.
- Ability to work independently when necessary.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work in multiple legal disciplines to address the various needs of clients.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Able to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects at once.
Target Compensation: $175k - $200k
OfferUp offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. Individual salaries within our ranges are determined through a variety of factors including, but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. All roles will receive equity in OfferUp as part of their compensation, the amount of equity varying depending on the individual’s level and experience.
In addition to our compensation package, this role is eligible to enroll in health insurance, healthcare savings and spending accounts, retirement savings benefits (401(k) plan with match), basic and voluntary life insurance, disability benefits, and paid time off for sick leave, family and/or medical leave, vacation, and 12 company holidays. In regard to vacation time, OfferUp has a flexible vacation policy and, in general, full-time exempt employees will be expected to take 3-5 weeks (15-30 days) of pre-planned vacation time per year. Vacation needs are flexible and will naturally vary from year to year based on individual circumstances and business needs. In regard to sick time, all full-time employees (exempt and non-exempt) will be granted 12 days (96 hours) of sick time per year (pro-rated if they start a date other than January 1).
