The Role

Our Opportunity:

Chewy is seeking a dynamic and analytical Senior Category Manager to join our growing and fast-paced merchandising team in Plantation, Seattle, or Boston. We have very ambitious plans at Chewy and building our Merchandising teams and businesses are the top priority. Our Sr. Category Managers are passionate, entrepreneurial minded contributors that enjoy relevant and impactful results growing our brand. In this role, you will own the P&L for Chewy’s Leashes, Collars, Harnesses, Apparel, People Products, and Personalized Categories, negotiate to improve business terms, manage high profile vendor relationships, develop and execute business strategies, and identify opportunities to accelerate your business.

Merchandising, ecomm/retail, sales, marketing, and or product experience are great backgrounds for this role. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead one of Chewy’s most complex categories.
  • Have full P&L ownership.
  • Establish, build, and manage strong external vendor relationships, including ownership across all negotiations.
  • Continue to realize growth ratee across sales and profit.
  • Build and implement, based on research and data insights, strategies and plans to both recruit new customers to Chewy and to develop existing customers via lifecycle management concepts.
  • Identify opportunities within your category to optimize and maximize product performance, including analyzing sales data, assortment gaps, and market trends to make quick, effective decisions for your business.
  • Work cross-functionally with finance, marketing, supply chain, pricing, private brands, and customer service to ensure collaboration as well as holistic planning and execution.

What You’ll Need:

  • 5+ years of holistic business experience in ecommerce, merchandising, retail, FMCG, or similar organizations.
  • Strong comprehensive business acumen and the willingness to move fast. Sales/Merchandising experience. 
  • Proven operator, skilled in go-to-market, and with focus on execution.
  • Great communication skills combined with the ability to influence cross-functional partners.
  • Exceptional competencies in vendor management/merchandising, sales, marketing, and general management.
  • Ability to lead, be nimble, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and strong knowledge of retail math.

Bonus:

  • Business and leadership experience in market-leading organizations; both in bigger organizations and start-up businesses.
  • SQL a plus.

Compensation & Benefits:

Our pay range for a Senior Category Manager position is $129,500.00 - $207,000.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members accrue paid time off (PTO) while salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
