Job Responsibilities:
Position Overview
This is a research intern position within the Advanced Robotics team in the Corporate Engineering and R&D department. The Advanced Robotics team is focused on developing novel technologies that give robots human-like capabilities in perception and dexterity. The candidate will design, develop and evaluate Task and Motion Planning algorithms for Articulated Manipulator Robots. The candidate will get a chance to work under the guidance of a Robotics Software Technical Specialist. Magna's Student Program provides students the opportunity to gain practical work experience in their area of study related to the automotive industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop or improve applications, algorithms and approaches in our AI software for Robotics Manipulation tasks.
  • Design, develop or deploy software solutions for our AI, ML & DL pipelines.
  • Create representative case study to understand solution capabilities and limitations.
  • Develop evaluation criteria to test and evaluate the effectiveness of the systems.
  • Present technical results and provide recommendations based on the case study.


Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in MLOps, DevOps and writing software for creating AI applications.
  • Knowledge of ML, DL theory.
  • Experience in training, deploying applications using ML workflows like PyTorch/TensorFlow, Python and DL tools.
  • Prior experience with running model training and inference.
  • Excellent coding and scripting abilities in Python
  • Good understanding of Robotics fundamentals.
  • Curious, Team Player and ability to thrive in collaborative, small team environment.


Education / Experience

  • Current higher education student; preferably in a graduate program focused on implementing Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep learning-based solutions for Robotics or hardware-interface based applications.


Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office (Troy, MI) environment, able to conduct a normal amount of work at a computer.
