Team Overview:
As an intern in Systems Engineering, you will have the opportunity to work with engineers and technologists to evolve your RF skills and to enhance knowledge of RFID.
What you will do:
- Investigate theoretical background of RFID communication links and of RF power delivered into RFID tags by reviewing established research and discussions with engineers
- Model and simulate RF power delivered based on antenna source impedances, IC impedances, and IC operating points
- Model and simulate existing RFID communication links along with new concepts for improving communication link
- Reconcile and optimize model and simulations with existing measurements
- Analyze model and simulations and explore RF parameters to optimize performance of communication link and power delivery
- Augment existing research by compiling and documenting both the analysis and simulations
What you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree In Electrical Engineering (must have)
- Working towards a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus in RF and in wireless communication (nice to have)
- Coding experience in Python with basic scientific packages, such as numpy and matplotlib. Experience with software integrated development environment (IDE), Github, and object-oriented programming a plus
- Coursework or understanding of electromagnetic (EM) waves, EM propagation, s-parameters, reflection/transmission coefficients, smith chart, and matching circuits is a plus
- Coursework or understanding of signal processing, filtering, channel capacity, signal-to-noise ratio, and bit-error rate is a plus

Compensation & Benefits:
The benefits listed below may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Impinj and the country where you work.
The typical base pay range for this role across the US is $26.00/hour - $36.00/hour. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties, requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Both market wage data and the mid-point of the pay range is reviewed and used as the starting point for all new hire offers. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
At Impinj certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role. US based employees have access to healthcare benefits; a 401(k) plan and company match among others.
