At Movement Labs, we are leading the way in blockchain technology with an open modular framework for building and deploying Move-based infrastructure, applications, and blockchains in any distributed environment.  We are seeking a highly skilled Rust Protocol Engineer to help design and build the core protocols powering our platform.

This role is perfect for engineers with deep blockchain protocol experience, particularly those who have contributed to Layer 1 (L1) technologies, node software, or modular blockchain architecture.

You Will:
  • Architect and implement key components of Movement's Move-based blockchain technologies, including consensus, networking, and node infrastructure

  • Design and optimize core protocol features such as state synchronization, cryptographic modules, and peer-to-peer networking

  • Collaborate on the evolution of the MoveVM and the Move language, driving adoption through tools, SDKs, and technical leadership

  • Contribute to technical roadmaps, write detailed specifications, and lead peer reviews to ensure the quality and scalability of our solutions

  • Partner with our Research Engineering team and external partners to advance our technology stack

You Have:
  • Proven experience building blockchain protocols, particularly L1 technologies (e.g., consensus mechanisms, networking, or node software)

  • Advanced proficiency in Rust, with a strong understanding of systems programming and performance optimization

  • Hands-on experience contributing to L1/L2 projects in similar blockchain core engineering teams

  • Expertise in distributed systems, cryptography, and consensus protocols

  • A track record of delivering production-quality software in complex environments

  • A self-motivating attitude towards learning and development, and continuously push yourself

You May Have:
  • Understanding of blockchain technology and its underlying infrastructure, preferably with Move, Avalanche, or Ethereum

  • Deep understanding of cryptoeconomics and modular blockchain design

  • Open-source contributions to core blockchain protocols

We offer a competitive salary, token award, and benefits package, as well as the opportunity to work with a talented and passionate team at the forefront of the web3 revolution. If you are a driven, community-focused professional with a passion for blockchain technology, we'd love to hear from you.

To be successful in our mission to create a thriving ecosystem around the Move language and Movement platform, it is essential to build a team enriched with diverse perspectives and experiences. We are committed to being an equal opportunity employer and cherish the diversity within our company. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
