Position Summary:

Provide perfect execution project management of standard and custom power conversion products, assemblies, and systems which include AC and DC Low Voltage Drives, Inverters for Battery Energy Storage & EV charging, Medium Voltage Drives, PLC’s, and HMI’s for both industrial and renewable energy applications. Directly manage projects, typically 4-5 simultaneously at different stages of progress/completion, while working closely with customers, installation contractors, engineering, field service, procurement, and contracts to ensure successful project completions of customer applications across North America.   

The project manager will be an independent, customer-facing representative of the organization for several strategic accounts and customers. This role requires a self-motivated, results-oriented professional with a strong technical aptitude and a passion to succeed.  

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop detailed project plan to monitor and track progress 
  • Lead and manage cross-functional teams on electrical and controls projects to deliver commitments on schedule, under budget, and exceeding customer expectations 
  • ‘Execution face’ of Nidec: Communicate and meet with customers through the life of each project 
  • Review, summarize, and communicate the contractual requirements, milestones, and criticalities to internal and external stakeholders 
  • Coordinate material delivery timeline with procurement to properly plan and stage manufacturing and assembly resources 
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties’ suppliers during project’s execution 
  • Prepare and present reporting of progress and financial performance of Projects under management 
  • Provide expertise in project initiation, scope definition, resource planning, schedule development, time estimating, cost estimating, budgeting, risk analysis and management, reporting, and project closure 
  • Manage changes to project's scope, schedule, and costs 
  • Assist in the estimation and preparation of RFQ’s for sub-contracted services and vendor equipment

Education Requirements

  • Industrial Engineering degree, or equivalent preferred
  • PMP certification desired 
  • PE Certification a plus 

Experience Requirements:

  • 3+ years of direct experience in industrial projects management 
  • Proven track record in managing large scale multi-million-dollar customer-facing projects 
  • Ability to work with team members that are not direct reports 
  • Experience with Electrical, Controls, and high-power applications will be a plus 
  • Working knowledge of NEC, OSHA and NFPA codes 
  • Project management tools experience – MS Project, MS Excel, SharePoint 
  • Percent of Complete (PoC) Accounting familiarity preferred 
  • SAP environment experience preferred 

Working Conditions

  • Able to physically work at the newly constructed, OSHA compliant, ISO certified facility in Cleveland, Ohio, which provides a unique blend of office-style engineering and comprehensive manufacturing. 
  • Up to 15% Travel for site surveys, installation meetings, and site supervision if required 
  • Able to physically travel and traverse industrial and commercial sites including heights, long walking distances and flights of stairs
