BlackSky is looking for a New Product Introduction, Program Manager to support our new satellite engineering development programs as they enter production. This role has a keen eye for operational processes and systems flows and strives to bridge gaps between engineering, manufacturing development, and systems level testing, to maintain stable production flows aligned to business goals. The ideal candidate will work across space hardware design, assembly, integration and test, engineering, and supply chain as well as the broader production support interface to define, develop and implement processes that maintain hardware and product deliveries to planned scope and schedule. This role will work to take released designs from the engineering team into the first production builds and manage changes through to the product baseline as the design evolves. This individual must understand prioritizing across competing requirements and have a keen eye to distill technical constraints and find opportunities while driving accountable scope and schedules.

The role is responsible supporting business rhythms and resolving constraints that will steer towards business goals for the constellation. This position requires an independent thinker who is consistently striving to learn, grow, and lead.

This role is hybrid and is expected to be in BlackSky’s Seattle, WA office two days per week to support production activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the satellite change control process and align timing gates into an executable plan for iterative changes.
  • Work cross-functionally to understand, provide visibility, and distill actionable metrics for production, supply chain and engineering teams to achieve business targets.
  • Collaborate with supply chain, leveraging reporting from supply chain and production teams to ensure hardware production build plan and that all teams are aligned to product introduction goals.
  • Partner with integrated engineering and product teams to develop and report on product lifecycle and change management for as built and as designed configurations. Track deviations and non-conformances associated with products.
  • Maintain custody of production configuration and partner with systems team to report on compliance to the performance specifications for the system.
  • Integrate and support the program teams, inclusive of production, supply chain, engineering, and software teams towards common milestones.
  • Responsible for highlighting to program team agreed-upon milestones; negotiating risk, scope, supporting cost trades and escalating as required.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on new designs and system changes and familiarize the production and operations team with the upcoming design releases.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, computer science, software engineering, or other technical discipline.
  • A minimum of three years experience with complex system design and/or launch of highly integrated software and hardware products
  • Program or project management experience.
  • Experience working with manufacturing and production schedules for hardware programs.
  • Experience working with test procedures and an engineering change control process.
  • This role does not require a clearance but must be eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance (US Citizen). 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project management qualifications such as PMP, Scrum Master etc.
  • Possess strong team leadership and inter-team cooperation and organization skills.
  • Experience of space system or space systems hardware components.

The anticipated salary range for candidates in Seattle, WA is $110,000-$130,000 per year. The final compensation package offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on specific background and education. BlackSky is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect salary ranges in other states or locations outside of Seattle, WA.
