SUMMARY:  

We are seeking a strong and enthusiastic leader with insurance product management and product development experience for a visible role in the Admitted Homeowners team within MSI. The position includes responsibility for managing existing products and developing new products, including eligibility, coverage offerings, contract structure, premium rates and UW rules/guidelines. The role reports to the Admitted Homeowners Leader and works closely with the senior leadership team on a regular basis to provide updates on performance. Additional interactions include collaboration with other teams within the State Management Group, Actuarial, Development and IT (Systems), UW, Claims, Operations (Sales and Service), Analytics, Policy Forms, Government Affairs, Compliance, Product and Partner Management and potentially other areas within the broader MSI or Baldwin Group community.  

Candidates must be self-motivated, able to work independently and matrix structures and able to demonstrate past success in fast-paced, analytical environments. This person will need to be an outside-the-box thinker, interested in pushing boundaries around the attritional losses and catastrophe perils to meet a variety of partner and customer needs. He/She must be accustomed and willing to work on multiple tasks in parallel, with the ability to prioritize projects. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Management of existing products: The product manager will be responsible for the profit & loss of multiple products and books of businesses in a set number of states with specific Non-CAT Loss Ratios targets.  He/She will also manage the risk exposure from a catastrophe basis to specific AAL & PML to Premium CAT levels. 

Contribute to the development of new products: The Product Manager will be part of a small companywide team identifying and creating new products with profit and loss accountability for ongoing operations. 

Complete Deep Dive Analyses: Analyze competitor offerings against MSI’s current offerings and partner and/or market needs to make recommendations on MSI strategic direction and approach. 

Drive Implementation: Use Project Management techniques to drive implementation of new products and enhancements across all functional areas within the company. 

Advise Senior Leadership: Provide recommendations to Executives in formulating both product strategy and tactical execution and prioritization 

REQUIREMENTS: 

Relevant Experience:5+ years of professional experience ideally in working with Homeowners Insurance, Product Management, Contract/Coverage creation and Product delivery. 

Educational Credentials: A bachelor’s degree and insurance product and contract knowledge is required, graduate degree preferred 

Software Experience: Some Experience with PowerBI, SAS, R, SQL, Python is preferred, intermediate to advanced skills in Excel is required; Ability to create PowerPoint presentations 

Entrepreneurial Mindset: A self-starter who can identify business opportunities, develop a product plan to capitalize on those opportunities, and successfully implement the plan 

Structured & Logical Thinking: The ability to identify and define business problems and issues, and develop strategic, analytical, and financial frameworks to conduct analyses. 

Analytical Rigor: Analyze product performance, identify additional areas of research, and recommend improvements. 

Powerful Communication: The ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, both verbally and on paper, and at all levels of an organization. 

Team Player: The candidate will need to work well both as part of a team and as a team leader.
