About Product Management at Cloudflare
As a Product Manager at Cloudflare, you will be responsible for building products that improve the way that the Internet works. Product Managers at Cloudflare shape high-level product goals but also get our hands dirty. On an average day, you might pitch a concept to senior leadership, collaborate with marketing, work with designers to conduct user research, prototype a new feature, iterate on a spec, analyze usage data, and pair with an engineer on implementation.
About the role
As a Product Manager for Data Localization, your primary responsibility is to support and grow the Data Localization Platform at Cloudflare. The goal of the Data Localization Platform is to revolutionize Cloudflare's global network, enabling regional management and operation and ensuring that every customer, regardless of compliance or data privacy needs, can trust Cloudflare's services. You'll work closely with a strong team of Engineers on traffic processing problems at unparalleled scale. In short, this job is about understanding the data processing needs of our internal and external customers and the business, and partnering with your team to deliver solutions that are valuable and viable.
Among other things you'll be responsible for:

  • The reliability and performance of our regional data processing platform products like Regional Services.
  • The scalability of Regional Services, enabling every economy that Cloudflare operates in to have access to Regional Services.
  • The coverage and accuracy of our customer facing regional data processing systems, ensuring that it complies with industry standards.
  • Working with our legal, compliance, and policy teams to build global solutions that work for various economies and nations.
  • Enabling internal teams to easily integrate with our regional data processing products to power a variety of experiences for our customers, in order to reduce the developmental burden on other teams.
  • Having strong, informed opinions and suggestions about how internal teams can best use our infrastructure to power customer-facing products.

Market Understanding: Keep up to date on industry trends and competitor activities to ensure Cloudflare remains a leader in cloud connectivity and security.
Product Strategy and Vision: Work with the DLS product team to define and drive the strategic direction for Cloudflare's data localization products, aligning with broader company objectives and customer needs.
Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with engineering, design, marketing, sales, and support teams to understand user and business needs, and deliver a product experience that is valuable and viable.
Data-Informed Decision Making: Use data analytics to inform product decisions and measure the impact of new features and improvements.

You have a passion for building SaaS products and want to solve the problems of performance, security, and reliability of the Internet.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, drive consensus, and deliver in a matrix organization with multiple stakeholders.
  • Must be able to define and manage complex process and/or product issues of a broad scope using independent judgment.
  • Experience balancing execution, agility, and culture at a fast growing business.
  • Strong technical abilities. You are intimately familiar with modern software development practices used to build and deploy applications and data systems. You've preferably been working full time on a software delivery team.
  • Deep customer and stakeholder empathy. You must be not only the voice of the customer, but at various times the voice of marketing, finance, engineering, support and ops. You must be able to channel many points of view.
  • Experience working with data analysis at scale. An understanding of how to make big data small.

Bonus Points

  • Strong contemporary understanding of geopolitical trends in either the EU, Central Asia, or the South Pacific, particularly as it pertains to data locality and data sovereignty.
  • Practical experience building systems that are FedRAMP High compliant.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of how the Internet works at layers 1 through 7.
  • Experience in building or operating large-scale IP networks. Specific expertise in BGP and DNS a plus.
  • Scripting/programming experience (Python, Go, etc.) and familiarity with data analysis tools (eg SQL, pandas).
  • Hands-on experience with tools used for interacting with, debugging, and testing networks and applications (e.g. curl, dig, mtr, iperf, Wireshark, etc.)
  • Ability to validate early ideas through quantitative and qualitative methods (A/B and multivariate testing, user testing, etc).
  • A solid understanding of RESTful API design & documentation.
  • Experience developing pricing for new enterprise SaaS products.
  • Capacity planning, cost modeling, and operations research experience.


Compensation
Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.

  • For Colorado-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $140,000 - $172,000
  • For New York City, Washington, and California (excluding Bay Area) based hires: Estimated annual salary of $158,000 - $193,000
  • For Bay Area-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $166,000 - $202,000
