Privacy at Curai

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Privacy Lead to drive our privacy initiatives at a fast-growing digital healthcare startup. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive data protection strategies that comply with HIPAA, and other relevant regulations. Your duties will include overseeing privacy policies, managing data breaches, conducting privacy impact assessments, and ensuring that all aspects of our service delivery respect patient confidentiality and data integrity. You will work closely with our legal, IT, and product teams to embed privacy-by-design principles into our products from the ground up, while also educating and training staff on best practices. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of healthcare data privacy laws, possess strong leadership skills, and be adept at navigating the complexities of digital health privacy in an innovative environment.


Who You Are 

We are in search of a self-starter to lead our privacy efforts as the Privacy Lead. This individual should:

• Be hands-on, accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment, and thrive under the pressure of a dynamic startup setting.

• Demonstrate a proactive approach to privacy challenges.

• Possess a keen eye for detail.

• Be adept at navigating the complexities of healthcare data regulations.

• Be comfortable taking initiative, leading by example, and adapting quickly to new privacy laws and technologies.

• Be knowledgeable and passionate about protecting patient data and ensuring our practices are at the forefront of digital health privacy standards.


What You’ll Do 

• Lead and oversee Curai’s privacy program, ensuring compliance with healthcare privacy regulations.

• Develop, implement, and maintain privacy policies and procedures.

• Conduct risk assessments and manage data breaches to protect sensitive patient information.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed privacy-by-design into product development.

• Drive privacy training initiatives to educate employees on compliance requirements and best practices.

• Monitor and interpret evolving privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) to advise on compliance strategies.

• Continuously refine Curai’s privacy framework to keep pace with technological and regulatory changes.


What You’ll Need

• 5+ years of experience in privacy, with a particular emphasis on digital health.

• Deep understanding of managing sensitive health data, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, and other relevant privacy laws

• Experience in implementing privacy-by-design principles in healthcare technologies.

• Your background should also demonstrate your ability to navigate the unique challenges of data protection in the health sector, from patient consent to data encryption and beyond.

• Being located in the Salt Lake City metro area is a plus.

The annual base salary range for this position is between $160,000 and $200,000 annually. Stock grants also play a key part in any offer, they increase your overall compensation package significantly based on company success. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
