ABOUT ORIGIN

Origin is reimagining wealth management by making it accessible and affordable to all. Today, money is the [#1] source of stress - more than jobs, health, and relationships combined. That stress is exacerbated in the current economic environment, which is presenting people with once-in-a-generation financial challenges. Origin is tackling this problem head on by expanding access to financial planning for those who have historically been boxed out due to high barriers to entry. Our product simplifies finances for individuals making it easy to manage spend and investments, get expert advice, and take action to hit financial goals.

We are a fast-paced startup in the series B round, led by repeat founders and backed by leading VC firms like Founders Fund, Felicis, and General Catalyst.

What will my day-to-day be like?

Product managers at Origin have a lot of freedom to decide how they spend their time. Still, they are ultimately responsible for ensuring that we are working on the highest-impact projects and executing at a world-class level.

As a Principal Product Manager focused on Growth at Origin, you will own the entire growth funnel, ensuring a world-class first-time user experience and continuously working on shortening time to value. You will be responsible for initiating and driving new growth initiatives such as referrals and bundling products. Key responsibilities include:

  • First Time User Experience: Ensure a world-class first-time user experience, constantly working on shortening time to value.
  • Growth Initiatives: Develop and drive new growth initiatives, such as referrals and bundling of products.
  • Third-Party Integrations: Identify and own integrations with third-party providers to improve in-product engagement. Lead the integration of our systems with financial institutions, ensuring efficient and reliable data aggregation. Partner with top-tier data providers like Plaid, Finicity, and MX to boost connection success rates, echoing Monarch Money’s commitment to excellence.
  • Early Engagement and Cross-Sell Opportunities: Identify strategies to drive early engagement and cross-sell opportunities into other products.
  • Marketing Collaboration: Work closely with marketing to ensure tight attribution and coordinated efforts.
  • AI/ML Technologies: Experience with AI/ML technologies for cross-sell or promo disbursement is a plus but not mandatory.

Requirements

We're looking for someone who is a true problem-solver at heart and who wants to help bring financial well-being to the masses. You don't shy away from new challenges; the harder the problem, the better. You are motivated by the fact that our product doesn't just affect the lives of a few people - it affects millions of people worldwide.

You are intensely focused on identifying problems and finding the right solution. You routinely build, measure and learn - and are used to doing this on distributed, global teams. You care about design, think in terms of KPIs, and enjoy learning about and applying new technologies to solve customer problems in a user-centric way.

San Francisco based candidates are preferred; though not a hard requirement.
Must have

  • 5+ years of experience building data-driven consumer-facing software as a Founder or Product Manager.
  • Proven experience working alongside data teams to ensure tight measurement of efforts.
  • Strong analytical skills to gather qualitative and quantitative data, identify gaps in user experience, and make well-reasoned decisions for growth.
  • Experience working on a significant product roadmap from strategic inception to launch.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent UX/UI intuition and ability to identify user experience improvements for acquisition or retention growth.
  • Ability to make decisions with incomplete information and learn from outcomes.
  • Fluency in integrating third-party partners to enhance product capabilities and engagement.

Eligibility requirements

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Origin does not sponsor visas.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
