This role is hybrid and requires 2 days in the Boston, MA office One being Wednesday's and then a day of your choice.

Toast is driven by building the restaurant platform that helps restaurants adapt, take control, and get back to what they do best: building the businesses they love.

Toast Now is not just one of the most successful and fast-growing products at Toast—it’s also evolving into a critical platform that powers multiple experiences across our ecosystem. User acquisition, engagement, and demand for new features are at an all-time high, creating new opportunities to build scalable solutions that benefit both restaurant managers and other Toast products. We’re looking for a Principal Product Manager who can not only drive product innovation but also navigate the complexity of Toast’s broader ecosystem. You’ll work closely with a high-caliber team of engineers, designers, and researchers to shape the future of Toast Now—not just as a standalone product, but as a platform that integrates seamlessly across Toast’s ecosystem, enabling new capabilities for restaurant managers and other teams.

About You:

You thrive in a fast-paced environment where ambitious goals and big challenges are the norm. You have a strong foundation in product management, but what sets you apart is your ability to hold a large cross-product context, build deep customer connections, and partner with domain product teams to drive impact at scale.

You are obsessed with numbers, constantly digging into data to uncover insights and push beyond surface-level conclusions. You have a track record of finding creative answers to complex questions—turning ambiguity into opportunity.

This role offers significant exposure to leadership and calls for someone who can think critically under pressure, engage in productive discussions, and build alignment across teams. You can take complex ideas, break them down into smaller components, and rally teams across the company to build and launch them successfully.

About this roll* (Responsibilities)

  • Own and drive the roadmap for Toast Now, reimagining how restaurant managers engage with Toast on mobile.
  • Work closely with engineers and designers to concept, prototype, ship, measure, and iterate on product features.
  • Hold and integrate platform-level context across Toast’s ecosystem, ensuring that Toast Now not only delivers a best-in-class experience for restaurant managers but also serves as a foundation that other teams and products can build upon.
  • Research and engage deeply with customers—whether through direct conversations, sales interactions, or support calls.
  • Operate at both strategic and executional levels, translating vision into detailed product requirements and cross-functional execution plans.
  • Champion customer needs internally by building strong relationships across teams, ensuring Toast Now’s platform capabilities align with broader company objectives, and influencing decisions with data and insights.

Do you have the right ingredients?*

  • Proven experience as a Product Manager at a Principal/Staff/Director level, ideally with mobile product experience.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a track record of using data to drive decisions.
  • Exceptional ability to build relationships across engineering, design, marketing, and other product teams.
  • Ability to operate in high-visibility, high-stakes situations, answering tough questions and influencing leadership.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset—comfortable with ambiguity and capable of turning vision into execution.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
