About this Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Principal Engineer to drive Developer Productivity and Engineering Excellence at scale across our Engineering Organization. In this role, you will help shape the vision and direction for engineering productivity tools, frameworks, and practices across the organization, enabling our engineering teams to build and deliver software more efficiently and effectively. You'll work closely with engineering stakeholders, across multiple teams, to ensure we continue building a world class Engineering Organization. 

What you’ll Do:

  • Lead the strategy and implementation for engineering productivity and operational excellence, ensuring alignment with business goals and performance objectives.
  • Identify and prioritize initiatives that enhance developer workflows, automation, and tools to reduce friction in software development and deployment processes.
  • Design and implement frameworks for continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), automated testing, and monitoring that accelerate product development and enhance code quality.
  • Provide expertise on scalable development practices, code health, and system observability to foster a high-performance engineering culture.
  • Conduct assessments of engineering workflows and productivity metrics, analyzing data to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop strategies and guide the adoption of tools and practices that support engineering teams in scaling efficiently without compromising quality or performance.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools and platforms that support engineering productivity, collaboration, and high-quality software delivery.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing insights on engineering productivity trends and advocating for investments in developer experience.
  • Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and product teams to ensure productivity solutions align with evolving project requirements and technical architecture.
  • Mentor and guide engineering teams on best practices in software engineering and productivity, building a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  • Develop and enforce standards, guidelines, and practices that ensure high code quality, performance, and maintainability across the organization.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on engineering productivity, automation, and distributed systems.
  • Proven experience leading productivity and operational excellence initiatives and influencing senior leadership on engineering best practices.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Go, Python, Rust).
  • In-depth experience with CI/CD platforms (eg :  Github, Gitlab , Jenkins) , testing frameworks and observability tools (eg : prometheus, grafana)
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing infrastructure using Kubernetes, scalable architectures, and software development best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to streamline complex workflows for high efficiency at scale.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to convey productivity strategies and practices to technical and non-technical audiences.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $275,000 - $330,000. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
