A Rackspace Enterprise Architect is a technical presales professional at Rackspace Technology who specializes in designing and implementing complex cloud solutions that leverage multiple Rackspace Service Lines, including Professional Services and Managed Services across Apps, Infra, Data, AI/ML, and Security, across different cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, essentially acting as a bridge between various Rackspace offerings to drive the development of comprehensive solutions for clients with diverse needs and in some cases working alongside SMEs from other service line to drive the development of the solutions.  


This position will be working with diverse presales, sales, technical consultancy, project management, support and partner teams ensuring customer business needs are technically translated and delivered through your consulting engagements. Engagements will be primarily focused on migration (transition), transformation and infrastructure consolidation, but may also include automation, optimization, and lifecycle services. As an experienced technical consultant, you will be accountable for customer technical project propositioning, scoping, design and delivery. You will be accountable for the technical outcomes of your engagements.

  • Multicloud Capability: They understand how to integrate cloud services from various providers into a unified architecture, enabling clients to utilize the best features of each platform. 
  • Solution Design: Their primary responsibility is to design and architect customized solutions by selecting the optimal mix of Rackspace services to meet client needs, considering factors like cost, performance, and security. 
  • Customer Focus: They work closely with clients to understand their business goals and translate them into technical requirements, ensuring the designed solution aligns with their strategic objectives. 
  • Presales Support: Often, these architects play a key role in the presales phase, presenting proposed solutions to potential clients and addressing technical questions during the sales cycle. 

Examples of what a Rackspace Multi Service Line Architect might do:

  • Design a hybrid cloud architecture utilizing both on-premise infrastructure and public cloud services from multiple providers, managing data flow between them. 
  • Develop a custom application deployment strategy that leverages Rackspace's managed services for security, monitoring, and scaling. 
  • Architect a data pipeline that combines data from various sources, utilizing Rackspace data warehousing and analytics tools to provide valuable insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a subject matter expert for AWS to orchestrate and lead professional services presales and delivery efforts inclusive of holistic IT migration, optimization, consolidation, and transformation solutions for FTSE 500 customers inclusive of discovery, analysis, planning and delivery.
  • Lead and facilitate group white- boarding sessions to articulate Rackspace solutions and professional services methodology.
  • Manage a broad range of activities including the coordination of several internal departments and 3rd party partners to structure realistic, innovative and cost-effective solutions to meet customer objectives and expectations in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with project managers, extended Rackspace teams and partners during presales and project delivery to ensure timely delivery and awareness of potential problems or risk requiring resolution or mitigation.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of combined technical support experience and pre-sales technical support experience.
  • Expert level knowledge of AWS.
  • Experience working in a project environment, in a supplier, vendor or consultant capacity.
  • Ability to communicate technical info and ideas so others will understand.
  • Ability to make appropriate decisions considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions.    
  • Ability to provide FANATICAL support by driving the value of Rackspace to both potential and existing Rackspace customers and internal sales teams alike.
  • Being familiar with Professional Services delivery frameworks and methodologies (e.g. Agile and Waterfall) with experience writing professional services statements of work.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Additional experience may substitute for the degree requirement at a rate of 3 years of experience for 1 year of education.
  • AWS Solutions Architect certification is preferred.

•The anticipated starting pay range for Colorado is: $ 170,000 - $ 271,900

•The anticipated starting pay range for the states of Hawaii and New York (not including NYC) is: $ 186,900 - $ 299,100

•The anticipated starting pay range for California, New York City and Washington is: $ 205,300 - $ 328,400

 

Unless already included in the posted pay range and based on eligibility, the role may include variable compensation in the form of bonus, commissions, or other discretionary payments. These discretionary payments are based on company and/or individual performance and may change at any time. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location.
