Team Overview:
As an intern in the Platform group, you will have the opportunity to work with engineers, technologists, and external partners to help enrich your career focus in tiny machine learning applications.
What you will do:
- Define and Implement Test Cases: Develop and implement comprehensive test cases to verify the functionality and performance of tiny machine learning models aided to the creation of consumable events from raw RAIN RFIDs detection data. This involves understanding the model's expected behavior, creating scenarios to test various aspects, and ensuring that the tests cover edge cases and potential failure points.
- Debugging and Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues in the test procedures of the machine learning models by analyzing test results and debugging the code. This includes pinpointing the source of errors, understanding the root cause, and proposing appropriate fixes to ensure the models perform as intended under different conditions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the development team to understand the requirements and goals of the machine learning models. This collaboration ensures that the tests are aligned with the project objectives and that any issues are communicated and addressed promptly, fostering a cohesive development process.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed and organized documentation of all test cases, test results, and any issues encountered during the testing process. This documentation serves as a reference for future testing, helps in tracking progress, and ensures that knowledge is shared across the team.
- Continuous Improvement: Suggest and implement improvements to the testing process to enhance efficiency and accuracy. This involves staying updated with the latest testing methodologies, tools, and best practices, and applying them to improve the overall quality and reliability of the machine learning models

- Enrolled in or recently obtained a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar program.
- Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as C#, python, or similar language
- Good understanding of software development practices and software architecture
- Excellent mathematical skills in linear algebra and statistics
- Practical knowledge related to building and adapting algorithms for machine learning, speech, multimodal sensing, and related areas

Compensation & Benefits:
The benefits listed below may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Impinj and the country where you work.
The typical base pay range for this role across the US is $26.00/hour - $36.00/hour. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties, requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Both market wage data and the mid-point of the pay range is reviewed and used as the starting point for all new hire offers. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
At Impinj certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role. US based employees have access to healthcare benefits; a 401(k) plan and company match among others.
