Your Opportunity:
Chewy is looking for a Payroll System Analyst will work collaboratively with the Payroll team and management to ensure efficient payroll processes while staying aligned with all regulations and policies. This individual will serve as a SME, coordinate payroll projects, and identify process improvement opportunities. This individual will specialize in troubleshooting complex payroll system and reporting updates, issues, and inquiries. This individual may also work with partners in Accounting, Human Resources, Third Party Vendors, and other internal departments on various initiatives.
What You'll Do:

  • Serve as an escalation point for payroll, reporting, and system issues.
  • Research and specialize in payroll regulatory compliance across all states in which employees reside and work. Research laws and regulation changes and how they affect the payroll system and processes.
  • Implement complex and/or high impact business processes and/or transactions.
  • Special pay processing such as Bonus and RSU, including running integrations, researching, and correcting variances.
  • Maintain and identify innovations and execution to support accurate and efficient day-to-day operations.
  • Performs maintenance on payroll updates and is responsible for testing new or changed payroll functionality, providing detailed design and program specifications.
  • Proactively assess, refine, and implement Payroll process improvements and tools, including requirements, system design, data flows, interfaces, testing, validation, documentation, and team training.
  • Plan, facilitate, and/or complete projects as assigned as a core team member or project lead on payroll-specific and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Act as a mentor to other payroll Team Members, providing training, support and guidance on tasks and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to initiate and lead conversations to drive payroll projects and issue resolutions, including directing work of peers.
  • Ensures per pay period, quarterly, and annual payroll reporting and data reconciliations are performed accurately and on-time.
  • Create and maintain complex reports from Workday and other systems.
  • Ability to identify issues and demonstrate curiosity to investigate and resolve.
  • Support Payroll management and Team Members with projects and other tasks as required.


What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field. An appropriate combination of education and work experience will be considered.
  • 3+ years related experience processing high volume, multi-state payroll for a mid to large size company for US and Canada.
  • 1+ years related experience leading special initiatives.
  • Hands on and strong knowledge/experience with Workday Payroll, ADP SmartCompliance and UKG Timekeeping.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and provincial regulations related to salaries, wages, taxes, benefits, and other payroll related matters required.
  • Understanding of payroll accounting.
  • FPC or CPP certification preferred.
  • Consistently achieves goals by prioritizing work appropriately.
  • Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Advanced Microsoft office skills (Excel, Word).
  • Able to work independently.
  • Able to work in a high growth environment under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work in a team environment.

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
Pay Range
$65,500-$98,000 USD
