The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company's regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.
Your Responsibilities
As a Part-Time Student - Software Engineering for John Deere Global Security located in Ames, IA, you will...

  • Be a technical member of a software team and contribute to feature delivery
  • Design, build, test, deploy, and operate security software solutions
  • Write clean and well-tested code
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers to improve security of software


This position is not available to students on immigration visas
What Skills You Need

  • Available to work 14-20 hours/week during the academic year
  • Available to work 35-40 hours/week during the summer semester
  • Takes initiative and is a self-starter who can complete assignments remotely.
  • Experience in at least one programming language
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at an accredited university
  • Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a Technology related discipline; others may apply
  • Graduation date of May 2026 or later
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above

  • Experience with Python, Java/JavaScript, SQL, Terraform and Groovy
  • Experience interacting with APIs
  • Experience with Git/Github
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Knowledge of security concepts: vulnerabilities, ethical hacking, secure design
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
