The Optimization Manager is responsible for optimizing a key global account’s Travel & Entertainment spend. This role will oversee a portfolio of initiatives to drive savings, program efficiency, and program improvements to the client’s global travel program. They will work directly with the client’s global team, Amex GBT colleagues in Client Management and Operations, as well as Amex GBT Consulting colleagues. The role is supported by Global Business Consulting’s program optimization and change management practice lines.

The successful candidate for the role will be expected to fulfill upon, or play an oversight role, across the following activities:

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain project plan inclusive of ongoing and upcoming initiatives. Provide regular updates to partners and flagging progress or hurdles. 

  • Assess new savings opportunities through travel technologies or process improvement.  Create reason for potential opportunities assessing benefits and risks of solution.

  • Analyze travel spend data to identify trends and gaps.  Present regular recommendations to client on how to respond.

  • Evaluate ongoing initiatives for continuous improvement: project scope and/or geographic expansion.

  • Review travel policy and a traveler behavior and marketplace conditions and recommend standard processes.

  • Report on travel program savings during quarterly business reviews.

  • Provide consultation on travel industry changes and developments, addressing impact to client’s travel program. 

  • Partner with category leads for supplier contract reviews, ongoing program management, and ad-hoc projects.

  • Assist in the development of change management-related content, alongside client resources.   

  • Collaborate with Amex GBT client management team to ensure that all Program Optimization workstreams are integrated into the overarching client/Amex GBT business plan.   

  • Position is responsible for meeting an annual consulting sales target. 

What We're Looking For:

  • Ability to travel up to 50%

  • Exceptional written & oral communication skills; with ability to seamlessly interact with peers & executives

  • Relevant travel industry or functional experience such as procurement, strategic sourcing, account management, management consulting.

  • Consultative skills set in the areas of analysis, data interpretation, communications, project management, process improvement, and change management.

  • Strong client service orientation

  • Knowledge of TMC operations strongly preferred

The Company has good cause to conduct a review of criminal history for this specific position based on the job duties (see listed job duties above) and because the role will involve access to credit card data, confidential client information or data and other proprietary corporate information and trade secrets.

The US national annual base salary range for this position is from $70,000 to $140,000.  The national range provided includes the base salary that GBT expects to pay for the role.  Actual base salary will be based on factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and work location.
