This position will support the NASA Extravehicular Activity (EVA) and Human Surface Mobility Program's (EHP) System Engineering and Integration (SEI) Mission Stakeholder & Integration (MSI) team - part of the Artemis portfolio at the NASA Johnson Space Center. As Mission Stakeholder & Integration Engineering Specialist (Engineering Specialist - Systems Engineering), you will provide cross-program and mission development leadership and support.
Work Model
This is a full-time position based at Johnson Space Center in Houston TX, which requires a 100% onsite work.
What You'll Be Doing

  • Support the EHP SEI MSI team at NASA Johnson Space Center, which is responsible for Artemis program stakeholder engagement and mission development
  • Support the Program's MSI Lead in the following tasks:
    • Function as a cross-program and/or mission-specific Integrator/Representative for the Mission Stakeholder & Integration team in the Extravehicular Activity (EVA) & Human Surface Mobility Program (EHP) ensuring EVA requirements and manifests are implemented on lunar assets in the Artemis Program.
    • Review and provide technical input to formal mission integration and planning products such as mission requirements documentation and/or mission-specific documentation.
    • Integrate with relevant stakeholders and lead the development of critical decision topics for presentation in Artemis forums.
    • Engage with EHP-Internal Projects (EVA, Lunar Terrain Vehicle, Pressurized Rover), Cross-Program, International Partners, and Enterprise-level teams to provide critical reviews of products, risks, hardware deliveries and integration into deliverables.
    • Support lunar surface-phase mission integration and planning for EHP by managing relevant analysis tasks, documents, gathering EHP analyst team resources, and present statuses at various Moon To Mars forums, Program forums, and EHP forums.
    • Provide support where needed with integration with other programs, future surface systems/elements, or mission planning.
    • Facilitate CRs (external documents routed to EHP SEI for review/comment) related to EHP and Surface Phase technical baseline documents.


What You Need to be Successful - Engineering Specialist-Systems Engineering
Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, science, or another related STEM discipline
  • 6 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including experience in systems engineering, technical interfaces, and NASA program management environment
  • Collaborate with other team members responsible for requirements and interfaces that are related to verification and validation in addition to working with stakeholders from other programs/projects
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills in working with others and presenting in front of boards
  • Demonstrated experience integrating multiple teams and complex systems
  • Ability to work in a quick-paced team that leads technical discussions across a large technical community and influences teams across the NASA enterprise
  • Initiative and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers
  • Excellent teaming and leadership skills with an ability to multi-task across various issues/disciplines simultaneously
  • Experience and knowledge of NASA's System Engineering and Integration means and methodologies
  • Willing to travel if needed, approx. 5-10%

  • Working experience in Configuration Management Workflow (CMW), SharePoint, and wiki pages
  • Advanced degree in engineering, science, or another related STEM discipline
  • Demonstrated successful experience performing or leading technical and programmatic tasks for NASA
  • Proven ability to interact effectively with government and contractor personnel
  • Experience with International Partner and/or Commercial vendor integration and coordination
