About the Role:

MarketWatch is searching for an ambitious reporter to join its technology team to cover breaking news and provide smart, well-reported analysis on some of the biggest names in the tech sector. Companies like Apple, Amazon, Google, Meta and Microsoft are driving the entire stock market, their products and services are used by the majority of Americans each day, and their influence impacts federal government policy and geopolitics. This is your chance to report and write about all of it. We are looking for a reporter who wants to cover the battle over AI innovation and the future of software, as companies like Palantir and Salesforce see their statures grow.

You Will:

  • Report on a broad range of technology companies and industries, including software, hardware, and social media.
  • Write clear, jargon-free financial news and analysis tailored to investors, covering earnings, stock performance, and industry trends.
  • Monitor and analyze developments across multiple companies, providing timely and insightful coverage.
  • Develop original enterprise stories that go beyond daily news cycles.
  • Craft sharp and engaging headlines that capture reader interest.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other teams to enhance coverage and reporting.
  • Balance multiple stories daily while maintaining accuracy and depth.

You Have:

  • 1-3 years of experience writing on consumer-related platforms
  • Fluency in financial markets and technology
  • Deep interest in technology
  • Facility with SEO and audience strategies
  • Adept at finding differentiated angles off the news
  • A track record of writing unique, engaging stories
  • Experience jumping quickly on breaking news

Pay Range: $80,000 - $90,000
