Chewy is seeking a Manager, Program Manager Food Safety III to support the Chewy Asset Protection team! This role, as a people leader, will lead all aspects of the food safety team, engage with vendors, drive food safety KPIs/metrics/goals, develop projects/mechanisms, ensures regulatory compliance, and provide an optimized Team Member and customer experience. This role will support the growing business including Chewy Operation (Fulfillment Centers and Pharmacy Operations), Corporate locations, and Chewy Vet Care! The successful candidate will coordinate developing and maintaining multiple programs, driving regulatory compliance, developing their team, and collaborating with partners to continuously improve workplace safety through food safety and quality. This role will support multiple locations across the U.S including several different business units. This role requires a professional people leader, who has extensive food safety and/or public health experience, can develop programs, own multiple projects at the same time, understands regulations (federal, state, and local), and can develop a technical team.
What you'll do:
- Lead a small team of food safety managers, technical professionals, supporting Chewy’s ecosystem.
- Develop and maintain programs, procedures, and mechanisms driving improvement in our food safety program.
- Drive the food safety program across core, perishables, Rx, and other businesses.
- Engage and support regulatory agency responses.
- Drive high standards around food safety and quality including focusing on network goals, KPIs, and metrics.
- Own data reporting and regular cadence documents to update business leaders (WBR, MBR, project updates).
- Conduct audits on a regular cadence, driving compliance, and ensuring all local/state/federal regulations are met.
- Lead third-party relationships with vendors for food safety projects.
- Develop and deliver on business objectives, KPIs, and team goals to drive food safety and improve the program as it scales.
- Report into the Associate Director, Safety & Loss Prevention.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (Food Safety, Biology, Chemistry, etc…) or equivalent work experience.
- 6+ years of food safety or public health inspection of warehousing, fulfillment, logistics, or large-scale services industry.
- Previous experience interacting with regulatory agencies including the FDA, USDA, OSHA, etc…
- Experience understanding SQF, food safety regulation both domestic and internationally, and quality or manufacturing standards. Certifications in these areas are a benefit.
- Ability to work with a team, partner with third-party leaders driving quality of professional service, and analyze data required.
- Ability to lead a small team of food safety professionals and partner with site EHS and Operations leaders.
- Ability to apply technology and database to analyze risk, gaps, and drive decisions based on data.
- Ability to build programs, policies, and implement procedures for health, safety, and security.
- Ability to partner with learning teams to build trainings for required compliance.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, being able to communication across internal Team Members and with executive leadership.
- Highly collective teammate who can build positive relationships with internal and external Team Members including third-party vendors.
- Capable of delivering high quality work and data driven initiatives on time with the ability to lead multiple different projects or programs simultaneously.
- Ability to be flexible, work through ambiguity, succeed in a fast-paced environment while having the foresight to build mechanisms and develop strategies. Willing to learn new skills and implement new technologies.
- Must be willing to travel up to 40%.

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
Pay Range
$110,500—$176,000 USD
