Reference Tables empower customers to bring external data into Datadog, enabling them to enrich and filter their observability data using their own referential sources—without ever leaving the platform.

The team owns its own UI and public-facing API, and collaborates closely with other product teams to support customer-facing features. As a platform, Reference Tables power critical use cases such as log enrichment, threat intelligence, and several upcoming strategic products.

We’re looking for a hands-on technical leader to guide a growing team of engineers through an ambitious product and technical roadmap. This high-impact role will play a key part in shaping product direction, design, and engineering decisions.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships that it builds, the creativity it brings to the table, and the collaboration of being together. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our employees can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead a team of engineers, ensuring effective project execution.
  • Partner with product managers and staff engineers to define and drive technical direction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to shape the organization's technical roadmap.
  • Establish and uphold engineering best practices, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, supporting their career growth and development.
  • Foster an inclusive and collaborative team culture.

Who You Are:

  • Technically adept, with a strong foundation in large-scale distributed systems and/or customer-facing product development. You can dive deep into technical details in code/designs when needed.
  • A problem solver at heart, eager to take on complex technical challenges with confidence and experience.
  • An engineering leader, skilled in prioritization, escalation, and clear communication—turning chaos into structured, manageable projects for ICs.
  • Experienced in mission-critical systems with high-stakes operations, having managed or participated in supporting infrastructure that demands high reliability & rapid incident response (via 24x7 rotation).

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits and Growth:

  • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
  • Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing
  • Intradepartmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking
  • An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds (Datadog employee resource groups)
  • Access to Inclusion Talks, our Internal panel discussions
  • Free, global mental health benefits for employees and dependents age 6+
  • Competitive global benefits

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
