Supporting the Disney Advertising Sales organization within our Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) segment, the Audience Modeling and Data Science team are subject matter experts in each of the following areas:

  • Creating and optimizing audience classification models that enable us to predict and target strategic audience attributes, including brand affinity, purchase behavior, and psychographics
  • Integrating a broad suite of complex datasets, from digital event logs to sporting event metadata, into carefully curated and reusable data models
  • Publishing audience attributes across an array of ad-serving endpoints
  • Working cross-functionally to ensure our data product is aligned with the goals of each strategic sales vertical and the business as a whole


Job Summary:
This role reports into the Sr. Manager of Data Science and will be focused on leading all data-driven initiatives related to Disney Advertising's addressable business. The individual that fills this role will be responsible for managing a team that maintains and develops Disney Advertising's advanced capabilities. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, you will develop, drive, and oversee new strategies to ensure the growth of the business and the overall bottom line.
Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

  • Lead a team of Data Scientists, helping to grow and develop individuals' technical and strategic capabilities, providing hands-on coaching and code review.
  • Maintain the team Kanban boards, leading team standups, tracking project progress, and providing executive updates.
  • Scope projects, including story development and technical documentation, working with the Data Strategy team to scope and track cross-team initiatives.
  • Oversee our evergreen audience, workstreams domestically and internationally, including delivery of business objectives through cross-team partnership, documentation, and solution development.
  • Support the ML operations, identity, and interoperability workstream, providing expert guidance on solution design.
  • Be the team center of excellence of MVP solutioning, stepping up to prepare stop-gap solutions for quick wins.


Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

  • 8+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree in data science, data engineering or closely related field of study, or 6 years experience with a master's degree in a closely related field of study
  • Strong experience in giving requirements to data scientists.
  • Technical experience in the following areas: SQL, Python, Google Cloud, AWS, Snowflake and Airflow.
  • Demonstrated sense of ownership and accountability for projects.
  • Exceptional communication, storytelling and visualization skills.
  • Transform complex data relationships into a consumable and intuitive data model.
  • Implement cutting-edge authoring, orchestration, and monitoring tools.
  • Innovative thinker capable of operating both in a strategic capacity (big-picture perspective, asks "why") and a hands-on/execution capacity (detail-oriented, conscientious).
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work and learn independently.

The hiring range for this remote position is $159,800 - $246,500 per year , which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
