Overview:

SageSure is looking for an experienced leader and proactive risk and control expert with a strong background in property claims and regulatory compliance. As the Manager, Business Controls and Compliance, you will be instrumental in ensuring compliant claim handling through a deep understanding of property claims, the regulatory environment we operate within and proactive application of risk and control measures. The ideal candidate will also be able to communicate and drive collaboration and action across multiple stakeholders and be able to implement compliance and risk management programs to ensure we scale our operations in a compliant, controlled manner. What you’d be doing:

  • Drive regulatory compliance ensuring the claim department’s policies, and procedures adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local insurance regulations, including those related to claims handling, regulatory requirements, adjuster licensing, complaint handling and data privacy.
  • Continuously monitor and analyze regulatory trends and changes within relevant states, translating these insights into specific, actionable feedback for process improvement.
  • Demonstrate rapid responsiveness during catastrophic events in applying emergency licensing/bulletin procedures for claims compliance during catastrophes, and in supporting resulting regulatory audits/data calls
  • Proactively leverage cross-functional collaboration with Underwriting, Product, and Legal to identify, assess, and resolve compliance and risk management challenges for claims.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert to provide compliance content to our training specialists to develop training offerings designed to drive adherence and alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate rapid responsiveness in applying emergency licensing/bulletin procedures for claims compliance during catastrophes, and in supporting resulting regulatory audits/data calls
  • Establish a scalable and sustainable adjuster licensing program, including the automation of manual processes to enhance efficiency and support future growth.
  • Serve as the point of contact to support all phases of internal, carrier, and regulatory audits, including preparation, execution, and follow-up, ensuring accurate information delivery, evidencing and adherence to all relevant standards and regulations.
  • Evaluate operational risks, design controls, and establish governance, while collaborating with stakeholders to build consensus and implement effective solutions
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the governance, risk and compliance frameworks to senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead a high performing, empowered agile team.
    Champion a strong risk management culture through knowledge transfer, trust and relationship building
  • Ability to think critically through findings to ensure action plans focus the attention of the stakeholders on the most impactful solutions.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • 5+ years’ prior Claims experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in governance, risk management and compliance
  • 5+ years of People Management experience, including experience in managing remotely
  • Superior knowledge in property claims regulations specifically for coastal states
  • Superior knowledge in property claims regulations specifically for catastrophic event scenarios
  • College Degree preferred or equivalent work experience

Highly preferred candidates also have:

  • Program/Project Management skills with expertise developing and implementing governance structures and processes
  • Working knowledge of common operational controls, guidelines, and standards (ISO, SOC1, SOC2)
  • Professional designations (GRCP, CGRC, CPCU, SCLA, etc.)
