Position Purpose

Day to day responsibilities are similar to the Loss Control Representative I role with growing complexity, volume and expectations as a Loss Control Representative II.  The role can mostly work independently or with only little supervision from the Loss Control Director.   

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide an overall assessment of commercial auto risks and act as liaison to outside vendors.

  • *Improve risk selection by evaluating new and existing customers.

  • Provide value added services to RLI Transportation customers.

  • Enhance our relationships with existing agency partners & insureds.

  • Create and review loss control reports for quality and consistency and work with insureds to implement recommendations.

  • Manage customized loss control services for specific accounts when needed.

  • Provide timely and quality reports to Loss Control Director and underwriting staff.

  • Maintain online and internal on-demand loss control resources.

  • Leverage technology to assist insureds in reducing loss.

  • Provide feedback to assist the underwriting process.

  • Assist in special projects and other duties as needed.

Education & Experience

  • Requires a high school diploma

  • 2+ years of industry safety/risk management experience

  • Focused and annual continuing education is required

Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.

  • Ability to speak confidently in front of groups in a training environment.

  • Working knowledge of FMCSA regulations, CSA and telematics/onboard camera platforms.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to use analytical methods to determine techniques to help insureds reduce their risk of loss.

  • Ability to work with technology to assess insureds’ risk of loss and provide methods for reducing such risk.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with brokers, vendors (including loss control), underwriting and claims staff.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

  • Ability to manage a schedule.

  • Ability to obtain a TRIPs designation.

  • Assist with the sales, marketing and delivery of RLI Safety Solutions services.

Compensation OverviewThe base salary range for the position is listed below. Please note that the base salary is only one component of our robust total rewards package at RLI. The salary offered will take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications/credentials, talent availability & specialization, as well as business needs. The below range may be modified in the future. Base Pay Range$61,348.00 - $87,728.00
