Job Overview:
Join our ELA Team! We develop academic tests covering Reading and Literacy and are looking for people with ELA expertise to help develop these tests. We integrate cutting edge technology with content expertise to develop standardized assessments across the nation. The primary function of the Item Writer II is to develop passages and/or create new test questions (items) for various client-specific projects.
 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work in interdisciplinary teams to craft test items and performance tasks to measure what students have learned

  • Finds stimulus material for test use, obtaining copyright permission as needed

  • Author original informational and literary stimulus material for test use, adhering to custom specifications, including grade-level appropriateness and language and bias sensitivity

  • Craft and review the items themselves, using our state-of-the-art tools to create highly interactive items, simulations, and other types of tasks

  • Participates in group item reviews

  • Records team feedback on test items at one-on-one meetings and group review sessions

  • Assists with the assembly of field test and operational test forms

  • Contributes to the creation of ancillary testing materials for interpretive guides, score reports, and item release websites

  • Helps senior staff in the management of test item pools and the development of new assessments, products, and services

  • Assists with the creation of test specifications

  • Assists at a various educator review meetings, including facilitation, as needed

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in English or related field is required.

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated imagination, analysis skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to identify problems and conceptualize solutions.

  • Prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with others.

  • Required travel for this position ranges from 1 week to 6 weeks per year.

  • Candidates should be able to travel as required for 2-3 days at a time, mostly in the June/July timeframe
