The Role: 

The Media Capture Team is a mission to capture and process critical audio and video data that fuels our downstream applications, enabling smarter, real-time insights across a variety of use cases. Our team thrives on creativity, collaboration, and innovative approaches to technology, building solutions that reach thousands, if not millions, of users daily. Our iOS app enables users to instantly capture audio from their iPhone and receive an AI-generated transcript and summary in real time, making it easier than ever to stay focused and engaged during conversations. As we continue to innovate, we’re expanding our vision to macOS and Android, ensuring that users can seamlessly access Read AI’s capabilities across all their devices. To achieve this, we’re looking for a skilled iOS/macOS Software Engineer who can drive the development of our macOS app while enhancing our existing iOS experience. This role will play a crucial part in shaping the future of Read AI, bringing our real-time transcription and summarization technology to an even broader audience. Responsibilities:

  • Lead development of new features and improvements in our existing iOS app using Swift and SwiftUI.
  • Build and launch a macOS app that extends Read AI’s capabilities to desktop users.
  • Collaborate on an Android app to bring our technology to a wider audience.
  • Enhance real-time audio processing using AVFoundation to ensure high-quality recordings and transcriptions.
  • Optimize performance and reliability, ensuring smooth, low-latency AI-powered transcription and summarization.
  • Implement best practices for security, data privacy, and offline functionality.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience in Swift and SwiftUI for iOS/macOS development.
  • Experience building macOS apps using AppKit or SwiftUI.
  • Familiarity with AVFoundation audio recording and processing.
  • Understanding of background processing, offline storage, and syncing data across devices.
  • Experience integrating with RESTful APIs and WebSockets.
  • Passion for AI-driven applications and a keen interest in improving productivity tools.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of Android development (Kotlin/Jetpack Compose) is a plus but not required.
  • Prior experience with real-time audio processing or speech-to-text applications is a bonus.
  • Backend development experience in Python, FastAPI, or Node.js
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Redis, and Celery for handling real-time data and background jobs.
  • Experience working with AWS, GCP, or Azure for cloud-based infrastructure and services.
  • Prior experience in a startup or fast-growing environment.

iOS/macOS Engineer positions offer a base pay range of $147,250 - $162,750, plus equity and benefits. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. We also offer low deductible health plans, as well as flexible time away and family leave programs.
