The intern will assist in designing mechanical systems, perform ductwork sizing, participate in project life cycle phases, and support project teams.
Objective of Internship Experience
- Ensure student will be able to design in BIM type software and learn how an MEP firm operates
- Expose student to all phases of project life cycle
- Student will become able to support the design of mechanical systems (Supply, Return, Exhaust, Transfer) of various building infrastructure type projects - perform ductwork sizing and placement in Revit & Autocad. Learn refrigeration cycles, condensers, chillers
- Create basic designs under the direction of the senior engineer
Responsibilities
- Work on various administrative projects when required.
- Assist project teams in design preparation and execution.
- Serve as assistant to the design and administration support team.
- Attend site visits with Engineers.
- Perform energy load calculations / assist on equipment selection and system layouts.
Qualifications
- 0-2 year’s internship experience.
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree.
- Self-starter. Seizes opportunities to initiate and take ownership of projects.
- Ability to grasp technical concepts and designs.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit preferred.
Representative tasks at times include walking the site with clients and partners, doing site surveys and performing other tasks that may have you: carrying, moving, and climbing ladders, to gain access to infrastructure covered by drop ceilings; and crawling, bending, reaching to gain access to and assess building systems.
