WHO WE ARE

ActBlue is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating cutting-edge technology that fuels Democratic victories and enables progressive causes to thrive.

Our vision is simple: building change through the power of people. Since our founding, we’ve been building innovative solutions to revolutionize grassroots fundraising – if you’ve donated to a Democratic campaign or a progressive organization online, you’ve probably used our platform! We believe in putting power in the hands of small-dollar donors by helping thousands of groups — from local candidates to national movements — mobilize their communities and create a lasting impact. Every member of our team is deeply committed to advancing our shared mission and core values. Together, we are shaping the future of democracy.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Group UX Designer, you will manage projects and architect complex solutions at a team level. You will work on end-to-end projects with agency and in concert with our UX Research, Product Management, Engineering, and Internal teams. You will think through the end-to-end user journey of your product space and support the design and delivery of cohesive products and services.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Lead and mentor a team of product designers working across our suite of products, providing guidance on research-driven design processes and fostering their professional growth
  • Partner with UX Research and Data teams to develop strategic insights into user behaviors, needs, and motivations that will inform design decisions across multiple product lines and broader organizational strategy
  • Establish cohesive design vision and direction for our interconnected product ecosystem, ensuring consistent user experiences while meeting the unique needs of different user segments
  • Build and maintain cross-functional relationships with Product, Engineering, Customer Support, and Marketing leadership to align multi-product design initiatives with overall business goals
  • Drive the implementation of research insights across design teams working on different products, ensuring all design decisions are grounded in user data and validated through appropriate testing
  • Establish design principles, processes, and quality standards that can be applied consistently across our product portfolio
  • Oversee the end-to-end design processes across multiple product teams, coaching designers through complex challenges that span different products and user journeys
  • Lead regular design reviews and critiques that foster collaboration between product design teams, encouraging knowledge sharing and consistent quality standards
  • Guide the evolution of the ATS Design System to support the needs of our expanding product portfolio while ensuring consistent implementation across all products
  • Advocate for design and user-centered thinking at the leadership level, effectively communicating the strategic value and business impact of a unified design approach across our product ecosystem

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 6-8+ years of related experience as well as prior experience leading a team or coaching and mentoring other staff
  • Experience working with remote, geographically distributed, cross-functional teams on complex product features.
  • Experience leading end-to-end delivery of products, starting from ideation and discovery to pixel-perfect mocks.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams on product ideas and pitches, including the design and delivery of MVPs.
  • Experience leading discovery, ideation, and user research sessions.
  • A user-first approach to UX design that grounds decisions in research and data. Experience incorporating research into your design process to inform UX decisions.
  • Strong storytelling skills and experience presenting to audiences at multiple levels of an organization.
  • Dedication to fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment, and a commitment to not just welcoming, but centering and amplifying, backgrounds and points of view that differ from yours.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
