The Role

The name ThousandEyes was born from two big ideas: the power to see things not ordinarily possible and the ability to collect insights from a multitude of vantage points. As the world continues its digital transformation and relies more on cloud services and the Internet, the “network,” which is now both public and private, has become a black box our customers cannot see or understand.

Our Internet and cloud intelligence platform delivers the only collectively powered real-time view of the Internet and private networks, cloud, and SaaS platforms, helping enterprises and service providers identify problems before they impact revenue, damage brand reputation, or halt employee productivity.

In August 2020, Cisco Systems completed the acquisition of ThousandEyes, which now forms the ThousandEyes Business Unit within the Cisco Networking Business Group and is the Network Assurance solution for Cisco across the Cisco Networking Cloud and Cisco Security Cloud. ThousandEyes is also a foundational component of Cisco’s growing Full-Stack Observability (“FSO”) business.

ThousandEyes is looking for an experienced Global Product Marketing Director to lead a team of product marketers. This role requires a balanced blend of product marketing, team development, and creative storytelling. You will possess relevant experience in IT, networking, enterprise software, and portfolio positioning to support a rapidly growing ThousandEyes business! This role will drive consistency in product marketing processes and deliverables for product launches and general releases. As part of the ThousandEyes global marketing team, this leader will collaborate with Demand Generation, Marketing Communications, and Product leaders to develop go-to-market strategies. This experienced leader must be able to use empirical data, customer stories, and market evidence to articulate a differentiated platform position that addresses business, technical, and operational pain points.

As the Global Product Marketing Director, you will be responsible for driving a comprehensive positioning strategy that includes a thorough understanding of the competitive landscape across ThousandEyes' digital experience use cases. Just as importantly, you and your team will lead the development of customer-facing, sales, and channel partner content and collateral in support of the breadth of ThousandEyes use cases and as part of the broader Cisco portfolio offers.

You will report to the ThousandEyes Chief Marketing Officer and will have an active role in all facets of product positioning, ensuring our value and differentiation lands in all relevant marketing activities. As part of the ThousandEyes Marketing leadership team, you will also interact with product management leaders and manage, mentor, and lead a team of product marketing managers.

  • Become a specialist in all things related to the ThousandEyes platform and associated digital experience use cases and how these thread through the entire marketing process
  • Develop thorough, product-level expertise of ThousandEyes core use cases, being able to articulate how it can be positioned to global audiences and a variety of BDM / TDM personas
  • Distill and communicate complex information for Sales, Marketing, Partners, and customers
  • Work with Product and Marketing leaders to craft messaging for ThousandEyes
  • Deliver business, technical and operational feedback to stakeholders
  • Be a trusted product positioning advisor to the wider marketing team to conceptualize and collaborate on marketing campaigns
  • Develop thoughtful, customer/market oriented content for campaigns
  • Evangelize ThousandEyes (the why and the what) at industry events
  • Drive and build in-depth product collateral and tools for some of the largest enterprise customer organizations in the world
  • Develop content targeting Business Decision Makers, IT Ops, and industry organizations using a variety of marketing tactics (e.g., webinars, blog posts, articles, etc.)
  • Build, develop and mentor a high-performing product marketing team, ensuring a continuous evolution of skills, professional growth and expanded responsibilities

  • 10+ years of proven experience in enterprise software gained through Product Marketing or Solution Marketing
  • Confirmed leader with a track record for team development
  • Metrics-oriented approach to continuous improvement of product messaging and marketing tactics
  • Understand the in-depth business, technical and operational practices of global IT, and global Enterprise businesses
  • Strong ability to translate technical features into differentiated value and business benefits to all types of audiences
  • Excellent communicator, creative problem solver, risk-taker, innovative thinker, consensus builder, motivator, assertive leader
  • Comfortable leading and collaborating in an Agile Marketing environment
  • Bachelor's Degree required, MBA or Master's Degree a plus!
  • Experience working in the IT or networking industry
  • Up to 25% travel required
