What you’ll do:

As a senior claims consultant, you would be responsible for handling moderate to complex commercial general liability claims involving apartment buildings, condominiums and townhomes, homeowner associations, 1-4 family dwellings and incidental commercial space.  On an as needed basis, monitor, coordinate and process Workers Compensation claims. These duties include but are not limited to, bodily injury claims, premises liability claims, assault and battery, and commercial third party property damage claims, with occasional workers comp losses. From first notice of loss to claim resolution, you would be involved in every step of the claims process from conducting investigations of the facts and circumstances of each claim, to evaluating and communicating coverages, negotiating damages, making payments and settlement decisions, and determining subrogation potential in line with our claims best practices.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Investigate coverages and communicate with Insureds, vendors and interested parties
  • Review and analysis of insurance policies to determine potential areas of coverage
  • Secure necessary documentation regarding liability and damages
  • Negotiate settlement with plaintiffs, attorneys or other interested parties
  • Set accurate and timely claim reserves
  • Make timely payment of claims
  • Liaise with department underwriting and product teams, as necessary
  • Maintain up-to-date adjuster licenses and stay current with industry trends and training

Requirements:

  • 2 – 7+ years of commercial general liability claims adjusting experience
  • An active adjuster license
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to concisely summarize claim information, and draft coverage opinion letters
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Understanding of applicable statutes, regulations and laws
  • Maintain accurate and up to date claim files
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Law degree and/or litigation experience preferred
