Position Overview
ShapeTX is seeking a Financial Reporting Manager with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to join its growing Finance organization at its Seattle, WA headquarters. This role will report to the Director of Accounting and requires the ability to interpret and apply GAAP standards to complex accounting transactions. If you are passionate about accounting and SOX compliance, this role offers an exciting opportunity to spearhead accounting projects and to closely collaborate with leadership on control implementation. This is also an excellent opportunity for someone looking to transition from public accounting into a corporate environment.
What You’ll Do
- Assist in preparation of the Company’s annual financial statements and related schedules
- Lead technical accounting research and drafting of memorandums on wide-ranging topics (revenue, leases, stock-based compensation, equity, debt, etc.)
- Responsible for analysis and accounting of stock-based compensation, equity, and review of valuation reports
- Maintain and update the accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices
- Support the annual audit and interim review activities with the external auditors
- Assist in the preparation of reports for the audit committee and management
- Lead the design, implementation, and testing of internal controls over financial reporting, ensuring effectiveness and alignment with SOX requirements
- Continuously monitor internal controls and collaborate cross-functionally to identify and address gaps and inefficiencies
- Serve as a resource to the accounting team on technical accounting matters, providing guidance and training as needed to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance
- Support the FP&A team in the annual budget and ongoing forecasting processes
What you Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification required
- 10+ years of professional experience in accounting and finance. Minimum 2 years of experience in technical accounting, financial reporting, and compliance
- Thorough knowledge of US GAAP, SEC regulations, and other accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606, ASC 808, ASC 842, 409a valuations)
- Must have participated in some capacity in internal control design and testing, including SOX compliance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong ownership mentality and a continuous learning mindset
- Proficiency in accounting software (NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of Public Accounting experience at a leading firm
- Experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry
- Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning software a plus

The salary range for the Financial Reporting Manager is $110,000-$166,000. The hired candidate's placement within the salary range will be determined through a comprehensive evaluation, including interviews, a review of education, experience, qualifications, and abilities, while ensuring equity with other team members. Our total rewards package may also include an annual target bonus, sign-on bonus, equity grant, and relocation bonus.
