About the Role:

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our dynamic New Initiatives Team. As a Engineering Manager, you will manage a team of engineers that helps shape the future of our products, drives innovation, and leads the technical direction for our new initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about Remitly's mission. You'll report to the Senior Engineering Manager for the New Initiatives team.

You Will:

  • Manage a team of engineers, provide technical leadership and lead complex, cross-team engineering efforts.
  • Guide and support team members in their career development journey.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Data teams to recognize and explore significant enhancement prospects, validating hypotheses, and enhancing key performance indicators.
  • Engage in all phases of product development, from brainstorming to execution to deployment, which involves swift prototyping, conducting A/B tests, and deploying code to production.
  • Establish standards for planning, encompassing defining quarterly objectives, allocating resources, and adapting priorities as needed.
  • Utilize your proficiency in technical writing, distributed systems architecture, coding, and software development methodologies to drive remarkable outcomes for the team.
  • Be a role model in upholding Remitly's cultural values and use them as a framework to mentor other engineers across the company to achieve their full potential.
  • You will help set and hire against a high engineering talent bar for the team.

You Have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Expertise in one or more general-purpose programming languages such as TypeScript, Go, Java.
  • 8+ years of overall software development experience including leading the development of reliable, available, and scalable distributed systems (preferably using a Microservices architecture).
  • 3+ years of experience leading fullstack application development teams, primarily focusing on mobile development.
  • Experience driving and building long-term technical strategy across multiple engineering teams.
  • Experience leading multi-quarter complex engineering projects with several engineers and working in partnership with one or more partners such as Product Managers, Program Managers, or TPMs.
  • Experience mentoring engineers up to the Senior Engineer level.
  • Experience with technical interviewing candidates for all levels up to Senior Engineer.

Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is typically $180,000 -$225,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
