We're looking for a data-driven, creative, and detail-oriented Email Marketing Specialist to join our team and help us deliver impactful and engaging campaigns that drive customer growth and retention. This is a part-time independent contractor role with an estimated commitment of 20 hours weekly.

As an Email Marketing Specialist, you'll own the end-to-end development of email campaigns, from concept to execution. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and optimize email marketing programs that enhance customer engagement and drive measurable results. Your technical expertise in HTML, Braze, and Figma will allow you to create dynamic, visually appealing, and personalized email experiences.

💡 What You’ll Do:

  • Email Campaign Development: Design, code (HTML), and deploy responsive email templates using Braze, ensuring cross-device and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Campaign Strategy & Execution: Build and manage targeted, personalized email campaigns that support customer lifecycle goals—including acquisition, onboarding, engagement, and retention.
  • A/B Testing & Optimization: Conduct A/B tests on subject lines, copy, design, and send times to improve open rates, click-through rates, and conversions.
  • Segmentation & Personalization: Utilize Braze's advanced segmentation tools to deliver hyper-targeted content and personalized customer journeys.
  • Creative Collaboration: Work closely with the design team in Figma to develop visually compelling email assets that align with brand guidelines.
  • Performance Tracking & Reporting: Analyze email performance metrics and deliver actionable insights to refine and optimize future campaigns.
  • Compliance & Deliverability: Ensure all emails comply with CPNI, CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and other relevant regulations while optimizing deliverability and minimizing bounce rates.

☑️ What Makes You The Perfect Fit:

  • 3+ years of experience in email marketing, with a proven track record of executing successful campaigns.
  • Proficiency in HTML/CSS for email development and a strong understanding of email best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Braze (or similar customer engagement platforms).
  • Experience working with Figma to collaborate on and deliver email designs.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into action.
  • Excellent project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of email deliverability, compliance standards, and accessibility best practices.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America. No authorization is offered by the employer.

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Experience with dynamic content, Liquid scripting, or other personalization techniques.
  • Knowledge of SMS and push notification marketing.
  • Familiarity with API-triggered messaging and advanced automation workflows.

💸 Compensation

  • This position is at-will and is a 1099 contractor position.
  • Pay rate is $55 per hour
  • Estimated weekly time commitment of 20 hours and is not eligible for overtime. This could increase with business needs.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
