The Director of Software Engineering (DSE) is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the software development process within Unified Practice, ensuring the successful delivery of software projects, and aligning efforts with business objectives. This role involves overseeing the entire software development lifecycle, providing strategic vision, technical leadership, and managing project timelines, resources and offshore teams. Additionally, the DSE will mentor team members, drive performance, foster an environment of collaboration with product leadership, and deliver on the strategic product roadmap while balancing tech debt requirements and feature development. The DSE is also involved in strategic cross functional planning, resource management, process improvement, and staying up-to-date with the latest technologies, policies and procedures of our parent company, Fullsteam.

The DSE will be responsible for a variety of technical functions. The position requires a highly motivated, "hands on" software leader who can get things done in a fast-paced environment spanning multiple teams, stakeholders, technologies, objectives and deliverables. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing all aspects of software development including Development, and Quality Assurance. 
  • Front End, Back End, APIs, SQL, Test suits, Integrations and more 
  • Owning the overall architectural design, technology strategy, and roadmap delivery aimed to delight our customers and drive bottom line growth
  • Work cross functionally with other organizations, different business units, our parent company, and drive engineering and operational excellence through establishment of DORA metrics, meeting company KPIs while defining and driving your team to meet your OKRs.
  • You will get to work with a diverse tech stack: AWS, SQL, Angular, MVC, ASP.NET, C#, and also work with some really cool people!
  • Help define, design, develop, test and launch software that genuinely helps people.
  • Both build code and manage team to design, build, test, and deploy full-stack software.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a STEM field, master's preferred 
  • 12+ years of software engineering experience
  • 8+ years of experience managing engineers
  • Proficiency with the following technologies: C#, Angular, Asp.Net, Terraform
  • NOTE, this is a hands-on technical leadership position. 
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, managing offshore talent, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective and efficient 
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience partnering with product management teams, and Operational teams with a distributed workforce 
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, features, feature branches, projects, and development streams in an Agile environment
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required
  • Nice to have - Experience building leading engineering / development at a startup or early-stage software company
