About the team/role: 

Lead the Evolution of our Small Business Sales Engine at WEX

We are seeking a visionary and inspirational Director of Small Business Acquisition  to spearhead the transformation of our North American Mobility sales function. This is a unique opportunity for a leader who can translate strategic thinking into impactful results. You will lead and mentor a high-performing team of 50+ inside telesales colleagues responsible for efficiently acquiring new customers, while simultaneously architecting the convergence of our future sales & digital revenue generating engine for our Mobility business. This role demands a blend of strategic foresight, analytical discipline, operational excellence, and commercial leadership - coaching and developing a tenured and high-performing sales organization.

Driving Operational Excellence:

  • Develop Winning Strategies: Develop and execute innovative commercial and data-led strategies that drive revenue growth, unlock operational efficiencies, and create a best in class customer experience. 

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage data and analytics to track & optimize performance, surface ongoing efficiency and productivity gains, and inform future strategies.

  • Lead with Impact: Guide and motivate a tenured and diverse team to consistently exceed ambitious sales and efficiency targets. Foster a high-performing culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Unlock Growth Opportunities: Proactively identify demand generation solutions, targeting and efficiency levers collaborating with key stakeholders including Marketing, Risk Management, and Data & Analytics teams, cultivating strong relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Empower Your Team: Provide exceptional coaching, mentorship, and development opportunities to maximize individual and team potential.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with Marketing, Product Development, Risk Management, Customer Service, Digital Analytics, Finance and other key departments to ensure seamless alignment and support for acquisition initiatives.

Architecting the Future of Mobility Sales:

  • AI-Powered Sales Transformation: Lead the development and implementation of an AI-driven acquisition strategy across all Mobility channels. Identify and prioritize key use cases for AI-powered segmentation and tools to enhance the sales process and improve efficiency.

  • Organizational Design for the Future: Reimagine the Mobility sales organization to optimize for future growth, agility, and multi-product sales capabilities, especially the future of sales & onboarding journeys. Conduct thorough assessments of current team structures, skills, and performance to identify areas for improvement.

  • GTM Alignment & Innovation: Define and refine the future sales operating model, including team structures, incentives/targeting, and tooling, to ensure seamless alignment with evolving market dynamics and WEX's overall growth strategy.

  • Championing Change: Lead and influence cross-functional teams to embrace and adapt to new technologies, processes, and organizational structures.

  • Commercial / SMB Experience -  deep understanding of commercial customer needs in the small and mid sized business segments

  • Customer Obsession: Deep understanding of customer needs and a relentless focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences.

  • Self-Awareness & Growth Mindset: Strong self-awareness and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

  • Exceptional Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, strong presentation skills, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Marketing, or a related field.

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in commercial / SMB (small and medium sized businesses) commercial leadership roles.

This role offers a base salary, an uncapped commission structure, and additional performance based incentives.

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
