WHO WE ARE:

ActBlue is a nonprofit that builds tech and infrastructure for Democratic campaigns, progressive-aligned causes, and people trying to make an impact in order to fuel long-term, people-powered change. If you’ve ever given online to a Democrat or progressive organization, chances are you’ve used our powerful online fundraising platform.

We put power in the hands of small-dollar donors and help thousands of groups — from presidential candidates to environmental organizations — build grassroots movements. We envision a democracy where everyone looking to make progressive people-powered change can easily and effectively deploy their resources, energy, and creativity to shape our country and futures. Each and every one of us, from the political activists to the tech innovators to the customer service pros, is fully committed to our mission.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Director of Product, reporting to the VP of Product, will lead a team of Product Managers that work closely with engineering, operations leaders, finance leaders, and other internal stakeholders that grow and sustain the full suite of ActBlue’s software products and platforms . You will lead a diverse and talented team of product managers with a focus on ensuring crisp execution, solid communication, and rigorous process consistency across the entire product management team.

You will assist in helping set the vision, strategy, and roadmap, and partner with your engineering and operations peers to ensure we’re building secure, scalable, and valuable products to support our rapidly growing user base and business goals. You will be responsible for identifying and prioritizing the work that aligns with organization-wide initiatives to ensure that we are building the things that directly serve both long and short-term strategic goals. You will focus tightly on delivering the greatest positive impact where there are complex cross-functional dependencies, and recognizing opportunities for business and technology solutions that help us empower both small-dollar donors and large campaigns alike.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Drive the successful execution of product initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality, strategy-aligned outcomes.
  • Assist in landing a comprehensive product strategy that aligns with organizational goals and customer needs.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of product leaders and managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with engineering, design, marketing, and customer success teams to deliver high-quality products.
  • Define and prioritize product roadmaps, features, and enhancements based on data-driven insights, solid business casing, and ad-hoc stakeholder feedback.
  • Establish and own key performance indicators (KPIs) and track product performance to drive improvements across the entire product.
  • Quickly develop deep customer empathy to understand customer needs and pain points so they are appropriately prioritized against business goals
  • Communicate product vision and strategy effectively and consistently across the organization and to external stakeholders using solid product processes.
  • Drive go-to-market execution in collaboration with marketing teams.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Extensive experience in leading, coaching, and motivating product managers, teams with organizational vision, and driving impactful results through motivation and commitment.
  • Proven experience in launching and shipping products, with a demonstrated ability to see projects through from concept to successful market release.
  • Strong quantitative skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions and assess the strength of business decisions using solid financial analysis fundamentals
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in an agile development environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and align teams around a product vision.
  • Ability to think strategically, act decisively with imperfect information, and to get very hands-on when necessary.
  • Strong understanding of market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
  • Technical acumen with the ability to collaborate closely with engineering teams.

BONUS POINTS :

  • MBA
  • Management Consulting Experience
  • Background in Engineering or a technically aligned discipline
  • Political or nonprofit experience

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
