About this roll*: (Responsibilities)
We are looking for a Director of Manufacturing Quality to join our growing Hardware Supply Chain Operations team. This individual will play a key role in setting Manufacturing Quality strategy to align with business needs and provide leadership, direct and manage day-to-day manufacturing quality activities to ensure products are built to specifications and meet all quality objectives. This position will manage a small team (Boston & Taipei) and report directly to the Senior Director of Commercial & Supply Management.
- Provide leadership through strategic direction and active engagement to align Manufacturing Quality functions and priorities with Toast business goals
- Foster a Customer Service culture through active engagement, leadership, and a strong sense of accountability within the department
- Partner with key stakeholders in Hardware Engineering, Product, Operations and Business leaders across the organization to ensure quality objectives are defined and met
- Partner with Commercial & Supply Chain teams to support new supplier selection, evaluation, and approval process
- Coordinate all quality-related activities at supplier sites to solve daily quality issues of components and products using 8D method in both NPD & MP stage
- Take quick containment actions to avoid line down situations and drive effective CAPA to avoid recurrence of issues
- Ensure suppliers understand and implement all quality standards, procedures, and requirements needed to manufacture Toast products
- Drive the use of quality tools at the suppliers to predict quality risk early during the NPD stage (PFMEA, PQCP, FAI, Cpk, CMF test, Reliability test, etc.)
- Drive improvement actions at the suppliers, monitor and assess supplier performance using supplier scorecard
- Identify process and design improvement opportunities and drive improvement with internal R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Suppliers
- Develop people to achieve high performance by providing direction, coaching, and mentoring to Quality team members in setting priorities, work direction and objectives, technical skills, and talent development
- Manage and communicate processes and metrics to enable highly transparent, credible and impactful functions
- Align with IT and BI teams to implement and improve reports, system rules & workflows, dashboards, automation, and more
Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)
- Visionary leader who is results-oriented, can drive continuous improvement with both suppliers & internal cross-functional teams
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical or Electrical engineering
- 10+ years experience in quality engineering area, 5+ years as Quality Manager
- Proactive working attitude and a strong sense of ownership
- Considerable knowledge of mechanical/electrical parts quality control, especially: Display Touch Panel. Power Supply, PCBA, Components, Cable, etc.
- Knowledge of RoHS, Prop 65, WEEE, etc.
- Considerable knowledge of Quality Management Systems, Reliability, Process and Quality Audit; Considerable knowledge of APQP/PPAP process

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.
Pay Range
$154,000—$246,000 USD
