Humana’s Corporate Development function has a unique purview thanks to the breadth of potential investments under consideration, ranging in size from multi-billion-dollar transactions to venture investments. The broad scope of transactions includes provider centric assets, Medicaid, Medicare, Homecare, and IT services. The Director of Investment Portfolio Management in Corporate Development role is to help Humana manage its minority investments, venture capital, and private equity relationships through partnership with senior executive in the organization. This role will seek to maximize the value creation from our investments and ensure accountability to Management and the Board.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develops and maintains extensive operating plans for all investment portfolio companies including budgets long range plans, synergy opportunities. 

  • Develops understanding of ownership rights and terms of each individual portfolio company, maximizing Humana’s value in each investment 

  • Works with portfolio board members to ensure operational execution 

  • maintains an extensive understanding of all portfolio companies current operations, key decisions, and timeline of key investment activities 

  • Works with corporate development to understand future investment options

Required Qualifications 

  • 8+ yrs experience managing company operations 

  • 5+ yrs of leadership skills with an interest in growing a business. 

  • Experience in strategic planning and business development execution plans. 

  • Extensive experience formulating partnerships vision, strategy, and execution plans. 

  • Ability to build strong customer relationships and drive customer satisfaction. 

  • Understanding corporate business development, market expansions & acquisitions, and ability to align business needs and values to prioritize business development targets for establishing new partnerships. 

  • Excellent professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to influence and build relationships with people across all levels and organizations internally and externally 

  • An entrepreneurial mindset and collaborative team player, including a high tolerance for ambiguity, a penchant for experimentation, and a bias towards action. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint applications 

  • Strong work ethic, detail orientation and passion for excellence 

  • Knowledge of general financial and accounting principals 

  • Experience building and evaluating financial models 

  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, sales or a related field 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master’s Degree 

  • Healthcare industry, project management, and private equity experience is a plus 

Location:   

This position is based in Humana’s office in Washington D.C., Louisville, or Chicago, although remote candidates may be considered in exceptional cases. The team follows a hybrid model, working together in the office 3 days per week  

Travel will average 20% annually between office hubs nationwide.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$184,800 - $254,100 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
