Garner's mission is to transform the healthcare economy, delivering high quality and affordable care for all. By helping employers restructure their healthcare benefit to provide clear incentives and data-driven insights, we direct employees to higher quality and lower cost healthcare providers. The result is that patients get better health outcomes while doctors are rewarded for practicing well, not performing more procedures. We are backed by top-tier venture capital firms, are growing rapidly and looking to expand our team.

We’re looking for a Director of FP&A to build out our FP&A team and function. This role reports to the Head of Finance.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead, grow and optimize our strategic finance team with high degrees of analytical rigor, cross-functional collaboration and a broad skill set combining finance, data, and strategy
  • Collaborate with company and functional leadership to analyze complex business decisions and provide thought partnership through a financial lens
  • Create and operate key financial forecasting tools and operating models, partnering with teams across the business to maximize predictability
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain insightful reporting on KPIs, growth trends and operational metrics to key internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage the financial planning and budgeting lifecycle, working to shape the financial trajectory of the business and connect operating goals to financial targets
  • Identify and execute opportunities to maximize ROI throughout the organization and drive sustainable growth
  • Implement new processes, tools, and systems to improve forecasting and reporting accuracy and efficiency
  • Managing, developing, motivating and retaining a high-performance FP&A team

Ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Total 8-10+ years of finance experience and 2+ years of management experience
  • Proven experience in managing day-to-day financial operations and systems
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong leadership skills, with a strong track record of hiring, developing, and retaining top talent
  • A willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and do whatever is necessary to ensure company success
  • Experience working in a rapidly evolving startup environment
  • A desire to be a part of our mission to improve the U.S. healthcare system
  • Authorized to work lawfully in the United States of America as Garner does not engage in immigration sponsorship at this time

What we look for at Garner:

  • Mission First: Our mission is to transform our healthcare system, delivering high quality and affordable care to all. Everything else is secondary.
  • Expect Extraordinary: Our mission is audacious, so we will only succeed by producing exceptional results. We continually push ourselves and each other to new heights and beyond our comfort zones.
  • Courageous Communication: Transparency and candor are imperative to realizing our potential as an organization and as individuals—even when uncomfortable. Many companies talk about these values. We live them.
  • Supportive community: We know that people do their best work and learn the most when they feel genuinely supported and cared for. It’s also more fun that way.

The target salary range for this position is: $170,000 - 210,000 . Individual compensation for this role will depend on a variety of factors including qualifications, skills and applicable laws. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible to participate in our equity incentive and competitive benefits plans.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
