About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Data Center Technology to lead our Low Voltage and Structured Cabling Design efforts. This individual will be responsible for leading and managing the data center’s non-MEP technology design delivery process for the Data Center Operations team, ensuring optimal performance, efficiency, and scalability.

Travel required to various data center sites. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage data center white space technology initiatives, providing strategic direction and technical guidance for internal resources, consultants and vendors.
  • Develop and implement new design standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Oversee the low voltage and structured cabling design of new data center facilities as a tenant and as an owner/operator.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Capacity, Network Engineering, Construction, Operations, Supply Chain and Technical Project Management to ensure seamless deployment and operation of low voltage white space equipment and cabling.
    • Align with Network Engineering, HPC Network, and Capacity to develop comprehensive designs.
    • Guide early design discussions with Networking Engineering, HPC Network and Capacity so that physical constraints and associated cost implications are taken into consideration from the beginning.
    • Participate in coordination efforts with Low Voltage Cabling contractors to execute on the architecture designed and optimize cost.
    • Coordinate in the field with Technical Project Managers and Data Center Managers.
  • Work in partnership with strategic leaders to align physical requirements to client needs, constructability and cost efficiency.
    • Lead coordination with Capacity, Sales and Operations to evaluate the physical aspects of the white space builds with respect to revenue.
    • Expand relationship with Network Engineer and HPC Network to better align architecture with specific data center layouts.
  • Assist with identifying areas for improvement on processes and procedures of low voltage and structured cabling design delivery and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Work closely with consultants and vendors to ensure compliance with Basis of Design and Company Standards.
  • Review Design Drawings, Specifications and Shop Drawings submitted for owner’s review.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on budgets, schedules, and resources for technology design efforts.
  • Participate in a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the Design team.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field. RCDD is a plus.
    • 8+ years of experience in data center design delivery, with at least 4 years in a leadership role.
    • Proven track record of successfully delivering data center design of low voltage systems and structured cabling.
    • Strong knowledge of data center white space systems including cabinets, racks, power strips, conveyance, structured cabling and network topology.
    • Experience with large-scale, high-density data centers and cloud infrastructure.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Professional certifications (e.g., Uptime Institute, BICSI, or similar) are a plus.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $200,000-$235,000. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
